Slave Cylinder Hydraulic Line

So my friend and I are working on his 93 ranger 3.0 doing the clutch and slave as he needed it (BADLY) The issue revolves around the stupid ass high pressure line coming from the clutch master to the slave cylinder, it simply will NOT go back into the slave cylinder. No matter how hard we press, no matter what we do, the damn quick disconnect line will not go back in the slave housing. It's really pissing both of us off ha. Any help would be appreciated as we are in the process of doing this right now. :pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff:
 
Sure you have the right slave cylinder? I'm not 100% familiar with the ford slave setup but from what I've seen in other quick-connect lines used by fords, some have a clip that has to be removed before inserting the line (the inlet to fuel filters come to mind). If so, don't forget to put the clip back in when you're done!

This is the slave cylinder we got. It says direct replacement on it, so we are a little stumped as to why it isn't fitting on correctly.

When I bought my 92 the guy couldn't get the line in either, after some careful investigation, the metal insert where the line snaps in was put in backwards.
 
I put that same part in mine last fall, but I bought it as part of a complete master/slave cylinder kit from Dorman. I don't think there were any issues connecting the line from the master in my case (my neighbor actually did it, but he was done quickly, with no complaints).

Are all the old clutch parts in your case OEM? Perhaps the master cylinder & line on your friend's truck are different.

We are assuming it's OEM, he bought the truck used a few months ago. So in actuality we don't know if it is OEM or not.

Open the bleeder screw on the slave to let the pressure out and give it a shot. When you install the trans. it compresses the slave and puts a small amount of pressure inside that will keep the line from going in. I have to do it on about half of the ranger clutches I do.
 
We eventually figured out it was the right slave cylinder female fitting, so we dropped the transmission again and put a correct one in

I appreciate a follow up, but that made 0 sense. There is no 'right female slave fitting'.

The fitting in question can only be on the left (driver's side).

How can you 'put in a correct' imaginary fitting'?

Well, we went and picked up another slave cylinder from autozone. The one that we got from online (rockauto.com) had a weird old style design for the female adapter. No matter how hard we tried it wouldn't go in. The one we got from autozone just snapped right in.
