I don't think it's for vibration. It's more likely to slow down the engine's twist.

I removed mine on my 91 ranger. On my 93 explorer, it didn't have one. The 4wheel ABS box mounts using those bolts so they can't put the shock on. All the 4.0's have a lot of engine shake at idle, the shock was an attempt to soften the vibrations in the truck.
Partsman certification?
Oh wow. That's somethin' else right there. How long is that?Yeah dude, there is an apprenticeship and training I have to go through and everything. How to diagnose vehicle systems and deal with customers rather than just slop parts over the counter like I did at Canadian Tire.
And I flew. the Ranger is back home helping with renovation work.

as an Alaskan, I will vouch that calgary is ****ing cold as balls. and I got the hell out of yukon before it got cold because if I couldnt handle calgary, yukon was way out of my league.
it's just consistently cold in the winter.
Um, that's more or less what you get for living north of the Mason-Dixon line.
Ha! Mason-Dixon line. That's not cold, try north of 60°.
Y'all amateurs![]()
You Canuks are sitting here whining about 1* C, which is about 35*F, not even freezing yet.
It regularly sits between 0 and 10 F here in the Valley during the winter, then shoots up to ~90-99 which high humidity (you can fricking swim in the air) in about a week from now. And that's when it's not pouring.
Want weather? Move to Williamsport.

Lived in Fort St John, in northern BC.
4 seasons: Almost winter, winter, still winter, and bad tobogganing.
Drove an old Mazda (Courier) diesel, no power steering. Drove an hour to the farm each day, sometimes it was so cold you had to hook your toe under the clutch pedal and pull it back up after you shifted, and with no power steering you had to remember to turn the wheel straight after a turn because it wouldn't straighten itself out.
Funny but not funny, I'm on the east coast, and was pushing 30 (c) yesterday. Went fishing Sunday, sweating in a t-shirt, came home with a sunburn.
Odd that we're cutting our lawns here, and Calgary is shoveling snow...
that describes fairbanks, AK. except colder. -50 to -60 in the winter, and in the 90s in the summer (24 hours a day sun)
