I'm messing with my 87/90 Ranger 4x4. "87" stx chassis with a "90" body. 2" body lift with 31s. Ok, 87 sending unit doesnt match 90 fuel guage. can I just stick a 90 unil in the 87 tank? I would like to get a bigger tank off of something at the junk yard. Anyone have any ideas? I thought I had seen a write up somewhere about putting longer shocks on the front to let it travel a lil bit farther. Anyone have any ideas about this? I do have the plastic 90 tank if it would fit. The shocks are shot in the front and i wanted to try out junk yard parts before spendind alot on new ones. LOL, I think used will cost like $4 each! LOL, that's just a start on the issues with this lil monster! Thanks for any help, 42nd Engineers Berlin Brigade, Berlin Germany. 90 till 94. Gulf war vet.

the frames are virtually identicle....so I don't see why you couldn't swap in the '90 tank...

as for longer shocks....try some from a stock Jeep TJ....they have the same stud mount at the top....just you will need to swap out the bushings to fit the Ranger stud on the bottom....

if you were close enough I would just give ya mine.....

lol, I'll look up what a tj is. I'll go to the jy tomorrow and see if they have anything for me. How much more travel can I get?. The tanks were close when I thought I checked them. I will take another look at em. I just looked it up. TJs are hard to come by at the JY. Now i just have to figure out why the reverse lights come on when I hit the brakes. I put a ground wire on the L/S and it works for turning left. when I turn R, (blinker on) they all flash. Guess another groung strap is in order.
