Just had Ye Olde '99 Ranger sitting for 9 DAYS with no battery in it, and as expected when it was re-powered, clock was way off, and radio presets were gone... for AM and FM1...

... but STILL THERE for FM2!... WTAF?? Is there a secret coin-battery or super-capacitor that only applies to the tiny handful of FM2 memory bytes?? Verrah verrah WEIRD!

You probably just caught it before everything disappeared. Probably has something to do with tiny resistances, hysteresis and magnetic latency causing some bits of memory to disappear before others. If you catch it at exactly the right instant in time, an easter egg reveals why Rangers always lean to driver side.

It's all perfectly normal.

Ive never found enough good radio stations to need to program FM2.

there is AM and FM. these run on FM, the M stands for Magic.
