On my new Ranger I have, I think its 6 months of SIRIUS satellite radio and I'm just looking at how much its going to cost:
"Take advantage of our monthly subscription rates of only $14.99* a month!"
http://www.siriuscanada.ca/en/choose/consumer.aspx

I'm woundering if its really worth it? So far I like it, but unless you really spend a great deal of time in your truck spending $15 a month just to listen to the RADIO seems like a wasting money...

Any Opinion?? :c-n:

Ive had sirius for like a year now and il never go back. Its just the greatest way to travel or go anywere. I have a home dock so I can listen to my sirius around the house. I have it on all the time. My favorite station is octane 20. I was forced to send in my car kit to get warrentied and had to suffer with cd's and regular radio. I drove for 30 minutes with regular radio and managed to accomplish 3 songs. With sirius i cover 7 in that time frame. Huge selection or comedy stations, all genre's of music, any kind of talk show, weather stations. I cant live without it. I will forever have sirius radio because sirius is the best radio on radio, period.

Its the best $15 a month I spend. I live in the sticks though and do alot of driving. I have the home kit too and it comes with me from truck to house every day. Octane, Buzzsaw, Lithium, and hard attack are the main ones I flip through.

I love mine, my 6 months ran out a few weeks ago, and the number that scrolls on the screen to re-subscribe won't work! lol...I need to get it going again. I've got a suction mount, so I swap it between my work truck and DD....

I think it's one of the greatest things out there. My favorite channels are hardattack27, octane20, lithium24, and punk29. I love it. Currently, I don't have it in my truck but a lot of cars at my job have them so I can listen to it at work most of the time. The best part is that you can listen to songs you won't hear on regular radio and not have any commercials. Plus there's an amazing variety there.

My free 6 months ran out this past week and I want to renew it. It's great on trips because you don't have to keep searching for new channels. I like the variety. The 6-month renewal is $51.00. Not bad, but I don't have the extra $51.00. I wish they would go monthly.

Ive had sirius for like a year now and il never go back.

DITTO, 'cept I've had mine since 12/04. I got real tired of the 14 minutes worth of commercials, 1 or 2 songs, another 14 minutes of commercials, another song, 14 more minutes of commercials.........................on free radio.

It boils down to.............Is it worth it to you? Some people don't like the programming on Sirius so they prefer XM. The programming on XM doesn't appeal to me so I went with Sirius. I don't live in my truck but it's great to have when I'm driving anywhere, especially on wheeling trips across the state..................the stations never fade out, no static either. If you like it, maybe you could consider buying the year subscription, it's a good chunk of change at first but then you can forget about paying for a year & just use it.

My truck has an Alpine (Sirius ready) head unit & I love it. I have the same HU in my wifes Bronco but we use the Starmate with that, I don't like that as much. I'm gonna get the module so I can transfer the script from the Starmate to the Bronco & just listen to Sirius on the puter when I'm in the house.

Anywho.........I like satellite radio so yup,.........I'll pay for it.

Everyone said its a rip off to buy cable tv when its free with rabbit ears. Now look, its rare to see somebody without cable and everyone pays for it. Same thing is happening with radio. If you want anything worth while listening to then get sirius. Otherwise your free radio is just getting more and more commercial congested with less music. On sirius you can find anything you want. Oldies to new music of today and everything inbetween.

I'm not saying that sirius radio is not a good thing, so far I like it. Its just a madder of cost vs. use. It sounds like alot of you have units that you take from the house to the car so you can say that you get alot of use out of it (for people that still turn the radio on while in the house, or spend ALOT of time in the truck)
If you have the money to spend then I guess its not a big deal, really if you think about it, $15 a month is not a whole lot. Would you or have any of you gone with the life time membership about $500 I think. So that works out to about 3 year then it pays for itself????

I know 2 people who have bought the lifetime membership and they have never looked back yet lol. Couldnt be happier. Its like a free radio now because there billing is done. They already made back the money they put out for it, and now it basically feels like a free radio to them.

One thing I don't like is that if you go under a bridge your signal cuts out sometimes. Where do you all have your antenna mounted? When I get mine I want to mount it on the rear of the cabroof with the wires going through the top mounted tail light. Anyone have a mounting like that and how's the singnal there?

Heres a link to how sirius says you should have it mounted. http://www.sirius.com/servlet/Conte...us/CachedPage&c=FlexContent&cid=1173329547494. I personally had mine from behind the radio above were I had my unit. Through the entire dash, under the carpet to the door, up through the trim peices all the way to the back window, out the center window mounted on the roof. Rarely cut out and always had a full signal showing.

i love my sirius.. i got a starmate replay a few years ago, so could swap it between my truck, my car, and the garage (i got a boombox for 50% off, because the discontinued my radio about 1.5 years after i got it, so they were getting rid of the stocked accessories for that model)..

i hard wired the power, and made a custom mount for each vehicle, hooked the unit up to the decks thru aux-in and the installs are real clean looking (as far as these units go).. my next car i'll probably get a sirius-ready deck, but when i got sirius, my deck was only for xm (its like 4 years old).. and its nice to pay one fee and be able to use it in 3 places, PLUS when i worked (before college) i would park my truck outside the back of the warehouse, hook up the little FM transmitter booster antenna, and we could listen to my sirius all night long (12hrs) on any radio in the factory.. on a 12 hour shift, especially NIGHT shift, regular radio gets OLD REALLY FAST, and after a few months, you've heard everyone's cd collection..

i love the sirius for trips, wheelin, the variety, and especially the replay (like tivo) function and the song/artist alerts.. they also have brand new songs all the time, and unsigned artists on some of the channels.. its pretty cool. me having sirius has convinced 4 other people i know to get it, and they all love it.. we live out in the woods, and all the local station are owned by one company, they share DJs, commercials are all the same, and they only play the popular stuff.... it got old real fast.

Well I think I'll play around with my system more, and at the end or there abouts of 6 months make up my mind but If I am going to keep up with it, I'm think the lift time membership is the best way of going. I best email Sirius and find out the details of that 'life time'.
Life time of ME or of the Truck???
