Satellite Radio.

Is Satellite Radio worth the cost?

I also have Sirius in my Ranger and even though I also have a CD changer
in my truck I'd be lost without the Sirius.

I do spend a lot of time driving and eventually you get bored with the CD's
you have with you (I have THREE 10 disc cartridges), I'm about to upgrade
to a newer changer that'll play mp3-CD's which will greatly increase my storage
(by a factor of seven) but even so there are times when you want to hear something you DON'T already own...

And Sirius works the same way all across the country
and there are lots of places out west where you can get FM reception...
IF you like Gospel music...

I have Sirius and will never get rid of it! In fact I have my boss looking at it for himself!!!

Programming is great, going wheeling across Colorado, I only loose signal in tunnels. It's well worth it.

I have the Stratus reciever hooked up to my Sony HU. One of these days I'll just break down and buy an Alpine with the Sirius build in, but that'll be a while out

wow 4 people love 8 minutes of music followed by 15 minutes of commercials. When mine broke down and was getting warrentied for free after about an hour of cd's and "free" radio I was about to lose it. I couldnt stand it. Same old songs on cd's, no music on "free" radio. Sirius for life man :headbang:

Strange that the 4 people have not posted any reasons for there dislike??
I always like to hear what people think, good or bad or even indifferent.

sat radio is the way. ford factory radios are not. If both companies can work out the bugs for the merger between xm and sirius, then new equipment will become available that picks up both at the same time. existing equipment will continue to work until 2010 (sirius has a contract until then with Chrysler). the merger could go through as soon as summer 2008. get your free 6 months then ditch the factory radio for something else. or just use it for 6 months and then buy a portable unit (like the new sportster 5) so your not stuck with it in just one car.

dont forget about HD radio so you can hear all those high def commercials!
what a scam.

I just got a stiletto todayand I recommend it to everyone. Small, portable live sirius radio, mp3 player. It does everything. You can even stream your satellite radio over your wifi if you have one so you dont need to route an antenna if you use it in your house. Just wifi it and boom its there. I cant get enough of this little thing lol.

A merger between XM and Sirius will drop the price down to $7 per month on certain packages. Basically you can pick what stations you want instead of the basic ~120 channels.

Here is my Sirius install

Oh God I sincerely hope that the older equipment stays compatible...

Because I have NO IDEA what I'd do if it wasn't.

I got a USED receiver that is STILL activated (I believe the original owner bought the lifetime subscription)

oh hell yes, I finally got mine going again a few days ago with a new subscription...OH MAN does it ever make the work night go by faster...

Sattelite is cool and all, but I won't pay for it. I don't have the problem of finding new channels when I travel, I have found country everywhere I have gone. I also like seeing what the are that I'm in listens to (or seeing how many country stations vs. hometown). I don't need another bill to pay. Yeah, lifetime.... I don't have much money. I'll take free while I can. I don't think there are THAT many comercials. They sometimes let me know things I'm missing out on (concerts, tire/wheels deals, etc.)

I look at Sirius or any Satellite radio like this. It's the Cable TV for the radio. I pay $13 bucks a month for entertainment just like I could be paying for cable TV.

WTF? I tuned in at 1 am tonight to 147, Road Dog, expecting to hear the midnight radio network talk show like I used to, and.....nada, something else...

quite fustrating...Now I've got to see if they've got a schedule listed on the sirius site...

Love the SIRIUS! Never thought I'd pay for radio, but I can't imagine listening to terrestrial radio again. I even listen to it at work with the online feature!

I purchased a nice head set (philips) for real cheap on ebay. They filter all the sounds at work out, my office is next to an assembly line. Before buying headphones on ebay I recommend trying stuff out at an electronic store. Some of the name brands have cheap crap as well.
