I am interested in doing a sas with a ford 9'' and dana 44 with radius arms (79 f150) if anyone has a similar set up please post pics,,, I am looking for reference pics. also the trans brace pics too.. Thanks

This may be a silly question but did you try using the search function? Either way, I am sure someone will post up. You will find a lot of stuff over on Pirate4x4 as well.

I'm pretty sure no one has ever thought of using a Dana 44 or a 9" for that type of swap before.....

THIS would probably be a good place to start.

THIS is another great place to look.

yeah ive looked at both of these before. I was looking for more specific pics of everything. Like Track bar locations. Ect. mostly detailed pics. and shock set up ect. Rather that just a truck with a sas

ill get some pics for you this weekend

if you don't move the coil buckets out to match where the coil spring would sit on a 79 f150, then you'll have to set up your lower mounts similar to mine. The 78-79 housing with radius arms cannot be moved inward due to the tubes having the radius arm mounts cast seperate of the tube. (77 44's have the wedges welded to the tube and can be cut and moved inward)

this is the kind of info ive been looking for.. like mounting the radius arms. What did you do for the steering stabilizer? DO you reccomend moving the top out or the bottom in (on the coils)

also can you tell me what is the cheapest coils to use.. and what did you do as far as drive shafts ( i am on an extremely limited budget)

what did you do for steering also... i want to be sure on what im getting in to,, although i already have the axles

the steering arm that goes up to the box is the stock arm from my explorer. i do not have a steering stabilzer on it, make sure the trac bar and the steering arm are as close to the same angle as possible. It handles better that way. i found it easier to mount the coil inward of the raduis arm vs moving the coil bucket out. I used EB coils from bronco graveyard.com (i used the 5.5 superflex coils) using the stock coil bucket these coils gave me 8"s of lift and give a good ride, but for my taste i could of used something softer but way better then SJ RBV coils

( i am on an extremely limited budget)

then why are you doing it? If you are on a budget you can't possibly be wheeling anything hard enough to warrent needed a fullwidth SAS. Don't be stupid and try to impress your friends by doing a SAS, wait, learn more about it, and save your money until you can do it right.

balljoints are worn,, the pass tire leans in BAD, and the pumpkin leaks... i got the axles cheap off my brother in law and decided to do in,.,, plus ive broke the shafts a couple of times

if your breaking your D35 shafts then your stock D44 shafts won't live much longer then your 35's shafts

i have already broken 4 stock D44 axle shafts and i am just getting started

i have crawl ratio 38s, heavy h1 double bealocks on my 44 and ive broken one shaft that was doing a 4 wheel double low burnout trying to pull my buddy off of ledge being hi centered. You are doing something wrong.... Probably running stock u-joints.. run upgraded u-joints tack the caps to the shaft and wheel.
