What bracket did you modify, and what pulley did you use?
If they are both original to your truck, the belt has worn and stretched.
If you changed something up, its possible you may need a shorter belt.
Either way, a new tensioner isn't a bad idea.
I modified the OEM bracket by just notching it out to clear the pump. The belt is not that old, I think a couple years.
The tensioner, I replaced as a preventative thing a few years back while troubleshooting an issue. I happen to still have the old tensioner so I put it back on the truck. So far so good. Not as hot today, unsure if that is a factor. Have a new one on order with Rock Auto.
I didn't think about it and had the tensioner "extended" most of the time I was working on the pump (over a weekend) Maybe I damaged it. Will monitor
