I've had a lot of steering issues like most ford owners. I'm running a cylinder assist also so I needed more pressure than the the stock pump could give me. I tried the cardone ford pump but the shaft Seels kept blowing out. I ordered a Saginaw pump with a small reservior and used a remote reservoir. I got a adapter bracket for a 5.0 from psc I got the pump from advanced auto, the reservoir also from psc. I tried to use a stock reservoir from a v8 explorer but it was to small and kept mixing in air. The psc one works great it was worth the money to have a system that works well

Here is the pump mounted in the stock bracket. I had to do some grinding to get it to fit

You should do a quick write-up with a better break-down of your step-by-step and parts used, then submit it to the tech library. Looks good.

I'll have to look up the part numbers. I want to take it on the trail to do more testing I had a hard time getting all the air out. It seems to work well with the psc resevior so far.

I did have to remove the motor shock bracket to fit the pump. I removed the shock when I did the SAS so it was not doing anything.

Sweet, I didn't realize PSC had the Ford adaptor for the Saginaw!

It used to be you could only get the cast one on the 79 T-bird HD upgrade pump, that was discontinued.

I'll be needing the part number for that pump with the small reservoir. I was gunna weld my cap hole shut, with a barp for a remote reservoir... But that's a cleaner setup.

I upgraded my stock p.s. pump to a HD T-Bird Saginaw style pump with the cast bracket, it also took a little cutting and grinding on the 4.0 bracket to make it fit. It handles my hydro assist no problem.

Psc makes adapters for the 5.0 and 5.8 I called and asked if it would work for a 4.0 they said no. It was only 25 bucks so I ordered it to use for a template but it worked with the pump I had if I wanted one with a reservoir it would not have worked. The 5.0 and 5.8 are different so if someone wants to get the 5.8 one an try it then we will know what works best haha.

I would recommend getting an older "full circle" bracket. The newer brackets with the gap at the bottom tend to snap after they have been clearanced for a Saginaw.
