I have the typical gray carpet in my truck, and it's nothing more than a pain in the ass to keep clean. I've seen many trucks with rubber flooring, but never a ranger. Is there someone or somewhere I can get one from?

My XL came with a rubber floor stock. It was esier to keep clean than carpet, but it dry rotted and started to tear and stuff. Yet, if you think about it, it did last 15years.

Try LMC truck. I know they have rubber and a poly vinyl. I would try the PV for the simple fact that it won't shrink and rot on you. The rubber is cheaper though. Also, I think they make the PV for super cabs.

Ebay has rubber flooring for Rangers, ext and reg cab. I've been thinking about doing the swap too. I like the carpet, but yeah, a pain to keep clean.

my 97 came factory with a rubber mat. It's great! You never have to worry about getting muddy boot on the carpet. I also don't use any floor mats with it either because there really isn't a need to plus it solves the problem of the mat always getting stuck under the gas peddle.

I lucked out and found one in a ranger xl in the junkyard, only thing it stops midway under the seats. But i have never seen one in ranger that makes it to the back of the cab(rubber that is)

I just saved the carpet from the seats back.

Rubber floors are a chewers best friend, and that is why I love my rubber floor in my 84! (it rhymes).....and ditto on LMC Truck and PV

Lots of Rangers come w/ the rubber/vinyl flooring. I really like it in my ext. cab. I just clean it w/ Mr. Clean once a week, and once in awhile i'll use Westley's White Wall cleaner. It makes it look brand new & shiney w/o making it slick.

i did not know about this rubber floor business

i need to find one of these!!

im not a big fan of rubber or vinyl flooring. water tends to get underneath it and cant evaporate back out like it can with carpet. thus the moisture is held in against the metal and your floors rot out faster.

if it were me, id tear the carpet up and paint the metal with something...a rubberized undercoating perhaps.

currently i have a bunch of mystery leaks so my carpet is always soaked.

i'm too cheap to fix the leaks, but scraping the inside of my windshield kinda sucks. rubber undercoating sounds like a good plan too hmmmm

I've never had any trouble w/ water getting under the flooring, but i'm not out mudding or anything like that, it's just my daily driver. The only place it could really get in there is along the edges and the door sill. I use the deep rubber slush mats so that keep the majority of the water in the mat.

Both my wife's 1999 Ranger XL, and the new 2002 Sport Trac have rubber floor instead of carpet.

The main reason mine had water getting under it was because of the "shrink". The edges wouldn't seal and left a gap. So that nice dirt/water mixture got under there. :annoyed:

Yet, when they are nicely sealed, they perform quite well.
