I had a mechanic rebuild my transmission (5R55E) and he is now done. He gave me a call to tell me that the truck is done however that he needs to reset the ecu but that I can take it. He said he recommends not driving the truck hard in tell the ecu has been reset. He told me that it takes 2 to 3 days and that all he is doing is turning on the switch on the ignition for 10 minutes start up the truck then turning it off every 10 minutes for 10 minutes.

Makes no sense please help as I am in process of going to pick up my truck.

I have never heard that in my life, I could be wrong. Sounds more like he is trying to scare you into taking it easy on the truck for a few days for everything to wear in.

I just got the truck and let me tell you that first gear on drive takes awhile for it to get the truck moving is that common?

No its not. I am a transmission builder. What he did was reset the adaptives. Hs nothing to do with engagement. Shift feel maybe but not engagement
