hey guys,

i was wondering if anyone has tried to replace the oil pan on a 1999 Ford Ranger V6 3.0l. i started the job in my garage and after removing the motor mount bolts and raising the engine three inches, i still didn't have enough space to squeez the pan between the sub frame and the transmission. my buddy looked in the Mitchell book and it said to remove the engine and transmission from the truck. i hope that's not the case because i'm not equipped to do so. any info would be greatly appreciated.

thank you in advance,

4x4 or 4x2?

Either way you need to lift the engine upwards about 1.5-2" to get the oil pan out.

i recommend removing the transmission. if you can jack up the truck you can remove the transmission and get this job done.
