Hello,
In an effort to root out the variety of bug-a-boos in my 4.0l powered BroncoII, I have gone to my go-to manufacturers for parts. I have a short list that I felt I could rely on...this situation exists no more.
ORDERED:
fire resistant split wire loom, wire loom wrap, water pump, hose clamps, thermostat + gasket/seal, starter relay, starter and remanufactured 1994 California emissions PCM:
• Gates is now made China
• Motorcraft is made in Mexico
• Bosch is made in China or made outside the US and assembled in the USA
• Cardone is looking solid, they refurbished the PCM but I have no idea where it was accomplished.
*since I am overtly whining, if a product wasn't further mention, it performed at or above my expectations.
The worst is the new Gates T-stat, it looks like chrome plated stamped steel... I've never seen a thermostat that wasn't made of the stainless steel??? Talk about engineering in a problem!
I laid out +$55 extra to own some assurance with my new Bosch starter only to learn that it was made in China; I even had to change the connector for the trigger wire
. The machining was acceptable but the casting is rough...I would never strike this with a hammer.
This has to be a blooming problem for our nation's GNP and our workforce!
