As the title states, a previous owner of my 88' tried making the red interior black. There's spray paint all over all the interior panels and dash, was wondering what the best way to remove this paint would be without damaging the original red color underneath. Mainly concerned about the metal panels.

"Goof Off" - "GraffitiRemover" works well on spray paint and will not affect the plastic, be sure to follow the directions. IDK what it would do to the metal, it would probably strip it all the way down to bare metal, so be cautious.

The guys that restore plastic r/c car bodies use brake fluid to remove the old paint.

Walmart sells a non-toxic, citrus based paint remover that might work well. Just test it on a small area first to see if it discolors the plastic. My mother uses it to strip old furniture all the time. You don't even need a mask. No toxic odors/fumes whatsoever.

It comes in a jug or in an aerosol can.
