remote filter

I'd shy away from Permatex. Especially, Permatex #1 (hardening type). You might want to get it apart later.
And, YES the pot metal will crack. Don't ask me how I know.

I don't know why you guys even TRY to mess with the cheap pot metal crap that cracks when tightened down, or leaks when it SHOULD be tight enough...

Just buy a Canton Oil Filter Adapter, and Remote Oil Filter Mount. It's made from Billet Aluminum, not some poorly cast, made in China cheap Aluminum Alloy...Install Braided Stainless Steel Aeroquip AQP -8 or -10 lines in between...and NEVER worry about it again.

Edited Post# 46 to include pics. I neglected to "double wrench" when tightening the hoses onto the adapter fittings! Has since been replaced thanks to a fellow member @ RPS.
Agreed. The Canton (with AN- fittings) is a better product. Most of us use the "pot metal" because of $$$. Here's an old thread that has pics. Prices may be obsolete by now, but its worth a read:

sorry guys im a dumbass and used household pipe thread sealant..gonna go try some automotive Permatex liquid teflon in the tube.

I used the generic teflon paste too and never had problems.

Only time you'll break the pot metal castings is when neglecting to use a double wrench method (Wade and I think alike here) As for leakage, none of mine have ever leaked.

Thanks for posting the link to the thread for these guys....

That is an AWESOME piece....

IMO....Hose Clamps are NOT to be used.....that is kind of the point here...

Use a GOOD hose clamp-less connection....like Aeroquip's AQP SOCKETLESS hose and connectors. Holds 250psi with NO COMPRESSION fittings or clamps. Or any standard AN type connection.

another question...how thick of hoseclamps are to be used?
:fie:Y'er jus' not gittin' tha big picture, here, partner. We might use the cheaper "pot metal" fixtures, but we don't scrimp on the quality of the hoses and fittings! :nono: -AN fittings don't require hose clamps! BTW, just pulled out the installation instructions for the Perma-Cool Spin-On Adapter - says, "Hoses should be rated at 300°F operating temp and 250 psi working pressure for best results." Don't think I'd be willing to trust screwclamps at that pressure rating. And, I know, I know, most oil pressures don't exceed ~80 psi. Ya' git what ya' pay for in this case! Including the headaches! We can talk it to death, or you can go, and pay for, some -8AN (1/2") hydraulic hoses to fit your application. Then, be said and done with it!

Absolutely! Better quality than the Perma-Cool -- and PRICEY. But, yes, it would definitely get a :icon_thumby:
It is less expensive than (OMG!) L&L !!! They want soo much for their products that I removed their site from my "Favorites"! If you order anything from them -- have them toss in a complimentary tube of K-Y Jelly!

And -- Hey! 88Mudder, 85_Ranger4x4 is right. "Link no workie."
