Recomendations needed?

Hi Folks! I Have a 1994 Ranger 4x4 2.3 Turbo that needs a clutch replacement
I do not want to do this twice and im new to ever doing this on a 4x4!, can anyone please let me know what clutch I should replace the blown one with? I dont even know whats in there yet ,I bought the truck 2nd hand it was pro built
but I have little info on the drive train! someone suggested Stage 2 because of the Turbo setup!(EVO Motor) any recomendations much appreciated ! Im diving in as Green as can be, but Im pretty Mechanical and can learn !

Welcome to TRS

No difference in 2WD or 4x4 clutch work except you have to drop 2 drive shafts, remove 2 shifters(if manual transfer case).

The same clutch is used for the 2.3l and 3.0l engines
3.0l engine ran 150HP
The 1988 T-bird 2.3l Turbos ran 150HP as well, so stock clutch would be fine to use

What kind of HP do you think you have?

The pressure plate is what matters in any case, it is what slips if there is to much HP.
So heavy duty pressure plate would be the upgrade if you are pushing 200HP

Don't use "racing clutches" they use a softer material that does get a better grip when heated up, but because it is softer it won't last as long as stock material

Thanx for helping me out Im going to start this week removing the trans,I do have one more question about a name brand I might look at? ive been told Exedy is a good one ? Im going to go for the whole kit slave/clutch /rear main seal and possibly a master cylinder , Im not sure what it needs yet! Once again

Never used that brand, I do use LUK and never been disappointed

I don't know of a kit for my recommendation but since I'm running basically the same thing and have been very happy with my last clutch I can recommend it over a stock replacement as they work fine but could be better...

I got a Centerforce stock replacement friction disc and the pressure plate with the weights, I don't have part numbers anymore but I'm sure I can come up with them...

I don't drive my Ranger as much as I used to, but I have twice as many miles on this clutch with much more abuse than the previous two stock replacement clutches... and it drives just fine and looked good the last time I had the engine out.
