I've been looking on the forums and found a few good threads about modifying the rear window. Ideally I'd like to have a power rear window like a bronco or sport trac. However, most threads on that end with "too expensive/too much fabrication".

What I'm wondering now is if you could make the rear window removable and store it behind the seats? Kinda like a redneck air conditioner :-P.

Probably have to build a frame to set it into that would seal well and hold the glass studley.

Any ideas? Thanks for the advice

I was thinking about this same thing the other day. I should get a patent and sell them, I know somebody would buy it.

I was thinking about having a replacement window frame, and having some kind of quick release for the glass. That or maybe a soft window with a zipper like a Jeep for the summer time.

If one of you makes these and gets rich I want a cut.

The old "Bigfoot" Rangers had a roll down back window.

I can suck all the leaves I care to with my 1/3 slider. :icon_twisted:

Take a look at the Chevy Avalanche......should give someone an idea or two......

That's what I was thinking for a removable window. The soft window is a good idea, lacks a little on security. Only takes a knife to break in.

From what I've seen the bigfoot window is a different size than an 03 Ranger. Would work if I could find one for a decent price. Though I'm not a fabricator by any means.

The Avalanche would be really sweet, could hide the window and lay the back down and make it like a bronco. Just have to get a topper that seals to the cab, bolt in some seats and you have an instant suv.

The easiest way is to buy a Breezer rear window.

Modify a 4 Runner tailgate in? Those have windows that roll down and they can be opened just like a tailgate. Go take some measurements and see if it fits. Or what about an actual Explorer Sport Trac window? That may work.

Screw the window! Where can I get the blonde!?

Her last know whereabouts is trying to escape out of the back window of a red pickup as it careened, uncontrolled, into the ocean.

Why don't you just replace the rear window with a Ranger's sliding rear window? :icon_confused:

What exactly is a breezer window? They're site has nothing on it and I can't find info on it.

My thinking is to have something unique, just like everyone else. Also I eventually want to have removable seating in the bed of my truck and a topper. Make it an suv/truck like an old IH Scout, or just a newer Bronco 2.

Breezer windows have been out for sometime now. Here is a link to an S-10 that had one installed. Go to the breezerwindow's website.

I went to the breezer windows website and all that was on there was that picture and a line saying their new website is coming. I checked out those pictures and that's pretty much what I'm wanting. Though it seems to reduced the viewing area. Any idea on what they cost?

Thanks for your service straycat.

Trying to seal a topper to the cab would not work because the bed flexes independently of the cab, so if it flexes and the topper is also attached to the cab, it would unseal or something, idk

I've seen toppers that have a flexible seal kinda like those accordion buses. Something like that would flex enough for normal driving. Also I could tub the whole thing and make it unibody. Unfortunetly, I'm not a fabricator and would hate to tear apart my daily driver.

One of these days I'll take a look and see what I can come up with. Need to find some junkyards in my area.
