Rear window mods

I went to the breezer windows website and all that was on there was that picture and a line saying their new website is coming. I checked out those pictures and that's pretty much what I'm wanting. Though it seems to reduced the viewing area. Any idea on what they cost?

Thanks for your service straycat.

Anytime, Bro!! I remember seeing them back in 2001 and 2003 at a few car/truck meets here in Florida. They were around $350 back then. They seemed real sharp at the time and I thought about doing that to my 99 Ranger. Just had too many projects going on at the time.

Good deal, that's not a bad price. Here I was thinking it would be $500+. I might be able to squeeze that out of my budget. I'd still like to try to make something similar, probably be cheaper if I don't overwork it. I'll keep checking around for those breezer and similar windows.

I've been looking on the forums and found a few good threads about modifying the rear window. Ideally I'd like to have a power rear window like a bronco or sport trac. However, most threads on that end with "too expensive/too much fabrication".

What I'm wondering now is if you could make the rear window removable and store it behind the seats? Kinda like a redneck air conditioner :-P.

Probably have to build a frame to set it into that would seal well and hold the glass studley.

Any ideas? Thanks for the advice

take a look at the chev avalanche rear window. it does exactly what your looking for, and the engineering is already done. just copy it.

I'll have to check around and see what I can find on the avalanche.

I never thought about a sunroof, that's not a bad idea. I could add one, I'm sure, if I had the tools or the money to have it done.

If I could I might, but I don't have a garage. Still it would be a quick fix. Might have to wait till summer on that.

There's a shop nearby me that the installer told me for $300 he would put in a sunroof on any of my vehicals. That includes the sunroof and labor. I don't know If I want one...but it is something to think about. I have roof racks on all of the rides except my wife's Corolla and she don't want a sunroof. The sunroof might get in the way of the roof racks, but not really sure until I place one on top for a fit to see if it will be in the way of the roof rack.

That's cheap, my local place quoted me at $950 to put one in my S10, I told them I'll take care of it and do it myself for $30. AC worked good enough that I left it alone though. Never had AC before. :D

I'm loving the sun roof in the Ranger though. I'm getting more and more excited the closer it gets to summer. I miss that truck.

I have the pop-up style. This is about how far it sticks up. The kind that slide back should be lower profile.

That sunroof goes real nice with the popout side windows. Look great. How does the headliner look? I always worry about doing that myself and messing up my mint headliner. lol

My worry on putting in a sunroof myself is getting it straight.

On a different note, not to get off topic, but I wondered if anyone ever had a visor with fog lamps attached to the underside? Might have to do a search or start a thread.

Are you talking about the front windshield visor? Some of those come with clear or amber lights. If you want to put on larger fog lights the lights they would have to be small to make sure the 'glass don't crack. (3 inch diameter would work properly). I have one buddy who did that on his F150 about 5 years ago. He added some 5 inch lights under the Lund visor and after a few months the visor cracked real bad and a light dropped off and dangled on his windshield at night going about 45 mph. He took off the visor and re-glassed it and while he had the visor on a work bench he 'glassed some brackets to the underside of it. The when he put on the fog lights they were tight and very secure.

I put a pop up T-top in Lima, has a cool center bar with a light and the glass comes all the way out. While the hole was open i insulated the roof between the metal with R-11 low E insulation.

My headliner looks great, I think it was professionally done though. The truck was well cared for and garaged in NYC by the first owner. Second owner did most of the damage to it..
