Rear long travel

wows!!! alright but pics of shims too??? haha and also great job!!! LOOKS GOOD.. wanna come to vegas and do the same with my trucK??

You don't race that truck do you? Does it have a cage inside as well? I really like what you've done with the roll cage in the back, its like an actual roll bar in the bed. I was thinking of doing something similar since I don't have the cash or skills to do a proper in-cab cage. How much did it cost you? Does it tie in to the frame the length of the cage? Im guessing you also gonna use it for mounting shocks too?

no but i hopefully will be eventually racing it. most likely next month i will have it go through the cab after i solid mount it. I have a friend that builds rock crawler cages, he bent everything up for about 400. and yes the shocks will mount off of it also.

lol damn i for got the shims...well the truck is on a trailer now ready for a desert trip this weeekend...so there will be plenty of new pics by monday.

i have been inspired by your roll bar . some q s. i have been researching roll protection for years now all ways applied to dirt cars .this is the first time i have looked at doing a truck .the in out set up you are building is what i want to do . my q is when you talk about solid mounting your cab you are removing the rubber and replacing it with some solid puck , for lack of a term? when i was building stock cars we would use a piece of pipe caped with plate and drilled. then bolt this in place of the rubber body mount . is this the same idea , or is there a more high tech method ? in retrospect my methods back in those days don't seem so safe these days .

Essemtially that would work. The think with building an interior cage is that you want to mount it to the frame. When doing this you essentially rigid mount the body so that it doesn't move and tie the pillars to the cage.

always to the frame i have seen a few cages pushed though the floor.never thought of the pillars , i have seen this in wrc thats a grand plan.

Won't rigid mounting the body increase road noise and vibrations? Can you use stock body mounts and have the cage not tied into the frame but tied together kinda like a box? Or can you just run normal body mounts with the cage tied to the frame and not the pillars?

At that point I don't think that it is a consern

If you tie the cage to the frame then you don't want the body to float around. And you'll have holes in the floor to allow for the body movement around the cage tubes. Also removing the body is going to be a PITA unless you like having to cut the cage to get it off.

Having the cage plated to the floor with tubes going back to the frame why not rigid mount the floor? So solid mounts are nice as your floor will survive and not crack and tear to shit.

Also If the tube is close enough to the pillar why not help the pillar by plating it to the tube. Just seems to make sense, and make the whole package stronger.

Yea I'm just thinking for a DD kinda thing where comfort is still up there on the priorities list.

just got back from the dezert and it handled amazing! had a few problems at first but eventually it worked out nicely. up to 65 mph in the lighter runs and up to 50 in the big stuff...tires seemed to stay on the ground very well. have a bunch of pics and a few vids pretty soon.

I have seen alot of people use solid billit mounts to replace the cab bushings or daystar makes a pretty solid bushing that i was thinking of trying first..if the cab still moves to much then try the other.

Haha! Very cool Idea and Props to you for being different! One thing I would try in the future is to have Deaver build you a pack off of your main spring. It will help make the leaf pack progressive and work 100x better. It will allow the spring to pre-load which will help the truck droop out in the bigger holes. Whithout pre-load the truck will pack up. Also when your ready for some shock valving tips let me know! I am more then willing to help make your truck go faster in the ruff. Plus it would be cool to see you pass a guy with those standard everyday off the shelf leaf packs that dont do what they claim. haha!

thanks, ya my buddy has a deaver pack on his truckk and he took out alot of the leafs, i was thinking about adding them to mine to get more reaction from them..As soon as i get some decent shocks on the truck i will definately be buggin you for some tips
