I was bleeding my brakes yesterday and the rear right just BARELY trickled out and the left rear did NOTHING at all. The Front brakes bleed fine. I changed the rear calipers about 5 years ago. But seems strange that BOTH wont bleed. AM I missing something?

Thanks!

What vehicle are you talking about?

You mention rear calipers, but an 86 b2 would have drums unless you've done a swap?

My guess would be a plug in the line or something. Does the brake pedal lose its stiffness when you open the bleeders on the back?

Sorry it is a 86 B2. I meant Wheel Cylinder, not the caliper. My bad!!!!! When im put them on a few years back they bled fine. When you open the back the pedel doesn't move.. even took off the bleeder part and blew through it and still the pedel didn't move and nothing came through.

I'll bet there is a bunch of corrosion in the lines, it is pretty old and brake fluid likes moisture. You could try vacuum bleeding or pressure bleeding but I'm no expert about brake systems so be warned. I've made a vacuum bleeding system from a mason jar and air line fittings and some old vacuum lines, all stuff I had handy. Here's a link, post # 13;

Also Hahnsb2 has this;
Take a large syringe and pull the plunger out and replace the reservoir with it, fill it up and put the plunger back in, have someone open the bleeder while you ram fluid down into the system, this is the most consistent method I've found.
He's talking about clutch but I think it should work for brake system to force out corrosion.

Good luck,

Richard

If you have enough corrosion in your lines to be blocking them, you probably want to look at replacing those lines before they rust right through.

My suggestion would be try unscrewing the line from the cylinder. If fluid flows then, you know the cylinder is the problem. If its still not flowing, you know its the line or something else.

I had this same problem. I tryed for hours to bleed it with and without a professional vacuum, replaced wheel cylenders etc, with no help. Then read that the RABS can rust solid and cause the lines to stop working in the back. went to autozone and bought a connector to bypass the RABS and they worked great. This could be your problem.

Definitely your RABS. What are the chances of both rear lines clogging at the same time? Well maybe the one line coming from the MC to the back. Disable the RABS with a union and it will work fine.
