Really Discouraged . . .

This might sound drastic, but if it is really making it almost undriveable, then can you re-route the pipe so that it is no longer resting on the heater box? Like moving the coil pack (like sky4life did) to the drivers side to make room for the intake tube to go down and under the blower. I dont really know much about superchargers, so I may be wrong. But if it is do-able, then it would deinately be worth the effort so that you will no longer have that problem.

On a side note, rain-x makes anti-fog wipes for your car. They actually work pretty well. Just make sure to clean your windows before using them. This could be a temporary substitution for your defroster.

I think that what you are doing is incredible and that you have more guts than I do to blow your DD. Just keep goin and dont just say screw it cause this is a first! (that i've heard of)

It's not the pipe that's the problem, it's the factory supercharger intake that's at issue. I'd been having all manner of problems with air leaks before I dumped my "custom" intake tube for the factory one. None of my initial measurements incorporated the factory intake tube, but IT doesn't leak and the bypass valve works WAY better than the Bosch one I had on there for several years.

I might have to go that route.

My truck has NEVER been down for this long. I've been driving it with the supercharger in various configurations for at least 4 years. THIS issue has really vexed me!

well dont let it mess with you. if anything we will find a way to move the blower motor to somewere else..... heh, well is there any other year rangers with a smaller air box and fan that will set farther back. urs is a 93? well mines 94 and i was having a problem with the downpipe off my turbo hitting airbox and had to just get a tighter bend downpipe. any other rangers have closer mounted boxes?

I've looked in the wrecking yard, but I haven't seen any. Also, it doesn't help that I can't get my CURRENT heater fan shroud out!

Just notch the heater box. That's what I did.

So im sorry if i havent gotten this right yet, but what your saying is that the fan itself is hitting the supercharger? On the rain-x idea, let me know how it turns out!

So why dont you just put the old custom intake back on and and seal it up with some epoxy?

this one has me puzzled as well, let me go look at my trk downstairs and ill have a reply momentarily. the rain x thing: DONT DO IT!!!! i had it on my old trk and the way that stuff is made is if you forget to reapply the solution (once every 3 or 4 weeks and is a PITA) you get this glare and such on the windshield that even windex wont take off. in other words i was driving blindly at night cuz lights would glare all the way across the shield and you couldnt see. several months later (finally wore it off over time) i had a problem of sunlight creating a glare and couldnt see thru the shield in the mornings...the little plastic protective film on both sides of the windshield (from rain x on the outside and the defogger on the inside) OPAQUED from the chemicals eating it up and basically skrewed the shield. i drove it knowingly for 3 yrs and when my windshield was busted pretty good i got a new one and no more probs. fig i would share my experience on that crap b4 somebody else had the same probs. ill get back to you momentarily on the heater fan, have to go look at my trk and compare...lol.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to work on putting everything back together today WITHOUT the heater fan, until I can come up with a solution . . .

check out a floor mounted heater fan from a john deere loader/ or older track hoe

they are mounted in a black box. the motors are small about 2 3/4 in dia, and about 3 in long. Just remove one from the box. But do look around there are some with bigger fan motors.

Hitatchi and komatsu also use those small motors

Another motor that may work for you comes out of boats ( inboard/outboard ) gas fumes blowers motors very small in size.

Excellent ideas! I'll have to look around. Thank you!

i was thinking the same thing then i thought about the amount of fabrication involved and didnt want to suggest it, its not a bad idea, just lots of work to put it in the factory box, unless you run a tube from the "heater box" into your passenger side vent...lol.

It would be nice to use the Ranger's wiring and not have to worry about the supercharger intake tube. For what I've spent trying to make IT work, I probably could have had a custom tube made for my application . . .

Being able to fabricate would give me tremendous flexibility!
