i have a 96 Ranger with a 4.0L 5 speed 4x4 with a 8.8 Rear Dana 35 Front and 3.73 gears with a Factory L/S rear , and my label on the door calls for 265/75R15 tires , i was wondering if that is uncommon on the rangers or what , most of the ones i see call for 235/75R15's , just wonderin about the commonality

Mine had them, and I'd say maybe 1 outta every 5 trucks I see has them. My truck was setup exactly like yours, only a 97'.

Both of my 94's had them but i always went with a 31x10.50 when i had it they were always cheaper then the 265's. the 265 comes out to be a 31 inch tire. the 31's were 4 ply though giving you more protection from punctures and able to haul more weight if you towed.
