ok...here's the numbers(i'm using the zf that's going in,not the c-6 that came out.)

zf......5.72
205...1.96
435...6.69
435...6.69
205...1.96
diffs..4.10=4032.22/1

but,the reverse on the 435 is around 7.1/1(i don't remember the exact number)so if they are both put in reverse,that's another(lower)forward gear....then it's4541.6/1

so at 750rpm idle,that's 6 minutes for 1 revolution.

i happen to be rebuilding one of the 435s right now,so i decided to confirm the reverse ratio(none of the tables published seem to include this).reverse uses the same gears on the mainshaft and countershaft as first,but with a reverse idler to change the direction.from this we would expect the same 6.69 ratio as first,except that the idler is a two stage gear.input is a 21 tooth,output is a 17 tooth,so the 6.69 ratio must be multiplied by 1.235,giving a final reverse ratio of 8.26

when i plug this number into the formula,it results in a final drive of 6146:1.

this results in a tire rotation time at 750rpm of 8.2 minutes.

a 5hp lawn mower engine could pull a stuck sherman tank out with that gear reduction, how about you add planetary gear reductions at the wheels too

toddlers move WAY faster,hell i have a hard time keeping up to them!

btw....that works out to .0165mph,or 87.12ft/hr.

So how often do you get out and let the truck wheel itself?

every now and then...it's fun to get out,hang with the guys for a bit.....then one of them says'i think your truck is rolling,dude..it looks like its moved a bit'.

so i say,'ya,its in gear,so it's driving away right now'


then there was the ramp show where they had a crawl off.luckilly it was done head to head.almost the whole field ran the other lane while my truck was doing it's thing.

i've also gotten out while it crawled over nasty obstacles-just reach in every few minutes to correct the steering-at idle theres enough torque to climb anything....while pulling out a stuck sherman tank.

but really,that's just for showing off.i have thousands of different ratios to chose from,so if you can think of a ratio between 6000:1 and 3.11:1,theres something close.

out of curiosity could you post up close pics of the ends of your trailing arms? Oh and what are your bump stops made of on the axle?

So if im getting this right, the leaf pack is attached to a crossmember? But not to the axle in any way besides the bumps? Sorry im just trying to wrap my head around it. all in all there's 2 shocks, 2 trailing arms and 2 bumps that position the axle?

Could the same be done on the front axle or would it not be safe that way?

Look closer there is also 2 locating arms on the top too (it looks like a pretty standard 4 link to me ). and he had said that the front is the same way
