ranger on the beach

an apt description.i've heard some colorfull (not always nice) terms to describe it too.seems not everyone has a sense of humor:icon_hornsup:

Why wouldn't people like it?

i don't really know....but there have been haters.i figure it's just different strokes,you know.not too worried about trying to please others-i just do what i do,if you like it,excellent...if not,then don't look.:icon_welder:

thank you....i'm very stylish;brownbag;

Are they hating because you can crawl twice as far up on the RTI ramp as them? Isn't the name of the game suspension articulation, is it safe and strong? I just cant understand why somebody could hate so much flex

is it safe and strong?

theres much more to it than just flex...it was built to be a capable all-around wheeler,from mud bogs to rock crawling,as well as being safe on the street.it took a long time(and lot's of failed experiments)to get the suspension to flex like that but not be floppy all the time.same with the drivetrain-i wanted a crawl ratio that would kill anyone elses,but there were a lot of problems in the beginning keeping it together.the way it's set up now,i can be confident driving a long distance on the highway to get to the trails,drive all day off road,and know it's going to get me home-as long as i take enough gas.as for the haters,most of that came from a particular web site that i won't name(like pirate)but there have been others that just thought it was foolish.to each his own.:icon_thumby:

That thing looks like a tank! i want to see some pictures of the bed and the front fenders. they look so bad ass! you said the bed just has the sides chopped off?

ya,it's just a regular box,i built a few outer fenders for it but kept tearing them up.eventually i just chopped the outer fenders off,leaving the inner box exposed.to keep it legal i fabbed up some simple aluminum fenders to cover the tires.the front fenders are actually rubber sheet stretched over the steel tube framework of the forward exo cage.

in this pic you can see the 435s above the rear suspension arm.

in this pic you can also see the front cage before covering it,as well as the inner box sides.none of this is on the truck as of now as it is being rebuilt,and while i've been saying for some time that a build thread thread will be coming,i'm in a position now to actually do it.so,stay tuned.
