ok problem number 99 here it goes
at strat up lately my ranger has been making a knocking noise but only untill it gets warmed up and sometimes after ive been on the highway or just driveing and come to a stop sounds like its comeing from the front of the engine im lost..

The 2.8 have solid lifters so they have to be adjusted manually and if they arent adjust periodicly, they will make a tick or knocking sound and is normal for these engines. Mine does it even after I adjusted them and its just something that I have learned to love about them.

ive heard the lifters tick befour and ive had them adjusted this is a different sound its more of a knock then a tick and just recently my oil pressure has been higher then usual dont know if that could mean anything or not

An oil port may be blocked somewhere and that could be starving oil in a spot and that could be increasing the pressure. Run some seafoam in the oil and that may clean up anything in it. I recommend doing that right before an oil change too or run it with some cheap oil for about 5-10 min with the engine to temp then changing it out for fresh. Dont drive her around with the seafoam in it either. It may smoke a bit but could possible help you out.

I have also heard of guys running ATF fluid in the oil and that cleaning out crap in their engines due to its a detergent. Stepdad ran ATF in his s10 and drove it around but I personaly wouldnt.

thanks im definetly gonna try it everything ive thought of has been a dead end so thanks again

My oil pressure runs around 50psi warmed up and 60psi when while driving (sometimes to 70psi) and thats in the summer and with new to half life oil and at 20 or so psi at 800rpm idling warmed up. Now in the winter with new oil and whatnot, much higher until warmed up. I run a manual oil pressure guage too.
