I have a line on a 2006 Ranger FX4 axle with a R7 axle code.
From what i have read here it would be a limited slip 4.10 axle with disc brakes

My Question is do the spring perches match the Bronco II and what would the difference in width be ?

Or do i just stick with the Explorer 8.8 plan?
The bronco II is stock height at the moment but plan a 2" or 4" lift in the future.

OK found the answers and more in the tech articles , so the FX4 is same width as the Explorer and the perches would have to be moved a bit.
It should be a 31 spline axle.
Are there any other things I need to consider?
Do I go for it ?

Are the FX4 axles 31 spline? If not, go with the exploder axle. If so, go with whichever is cheapest/easiest to install.

In 2002 the FX4 had the 31 spline.

In 2003 when the introduced the Level 2 the FX4 became mostly a trim package with no real functional upgrades over the base 4x4 model. So your 2006, unless it is a Level 2 then it will be a 28 spline.

An no disc brakes. The Ranger didn't get a factory rear disc until 2011.

Thanks for the info , greatly appreciated , How do I tell if its a level 2 with 31 splines ? other than pulling the axle it is still in the truck.

You could look at the truck. The Level 2 package says "Level II" somewhere on it.

Or you could measure the diameter of the axle tube. The 31-spline is thicker.
