railmans build thread....

howd you pull that off? im gonna assume on a sidehill area with a tree

yup....exactly:icon_thumby:

I used some pliers to roll me a lip in the rear fender to gain that last bit of clearance I needed....

as for the front I plan to trim just a hair more off the fender, since it won't take much....

Wow John, I just sat here and read every page of this....:shok: I LOVE IT my friend, what a transformation!!!! :headbang:

As to your question of what happened to my transmission multiple pages back, I found out I tore several teeth off at least one gear on the main shaft and one gear on the countershaft.....they are replaceable and not very expensive, but to fix 'em I need to overhaul the whole transmission...looks like I will be down for quite some time.

I need to get 'er goin' so I can prove what she can still do!!! Gonna have 36's, cut fenders, a 4.0 clutch setup behind that high revvin' 2.8, and hopefully a front 35 when I bring 'er back out!! :headbang:

Sorry man, not trying to threadjack!!

How is the clearance on the engine crossmember? You said you're on about 5" of lift right?

with my axle moved forward 4" from stock....I just had a little trimming at the very front of the cross member to make sure the dif didn't make contact...

mine hit a little with the weak springs and no bumps....but i broke the springs in half and went to shorter stouter units as i run the roads before i went all out with bump/limit scenarios.

is it hitting hard or was this purely a preventative measure?

more preventative.....I wasn't sure how much the bumps I used would deflect....

remember, I just built a slow moving trail rig....so no whoops, or other high speed off-road stuff...

I have 3" of up-travel with my set-up before the bumps make contact....and I figured the bumps would deflect 1".....

so far it has worked for me on the 2 wheelin' trips I have been on:icon_thumby::icon_thumby:
