So this morning my radio in the 88 Ranger worked fine (it has the stock radio w/cassette btw). Tonight I drove it into the city and it was parked for ~3 hours. I come back out, start it up, and I notice the clock is all wrong. Then I try the radio, and no matter what station I tune to, AM or FM, all I get is static. Additionally, I have lost all my preset stations. It's like someone unhooked the battery, although obviously that didn't happen....and it wouldn't explain why I can't receive any stations.

Any theories? :icon_confused:

Alien menace!? Maybe you should unhook and re hook the battery, did someone bust your antenna off? though that really shouldnt matter for am since thats an internal ferrit rod. So yea might be back at alien menace.

It kinna sounds like the antenna wire is loose or a bad connection for it, did you lose the memory presets. Some radios use the antenna as a ground try pushing it all the way in the radio? If you can reach it with your hand from underneath.

I did lose the memory presets and the clock was an hour and a half off....that's why I am wondering if there's more to it than a potential antenna issue.

Generically points toward a loss of memory power ( constant power) to the radio. Some times there is an in line fuse ...
