I'm replacing the radio in my '96 B4000. I cut the old plugs off to solder in the new, which I have done to other cars. The problem is I can't find a schematic that matches the colors on the wiring. Scratching the speaker wires on a battery doesn't make a sound. Finally I pulled a speaker to identify the wire colors and they don't match the dash wiring. Is there something between the radio and speaker like an amplifier? If there is, where can I find it?

TIA,
Jim

Trucks equipped with premium sound systems did have a separate amplifier. Look behind the glove box. I’ll try to remember to look in mu wiring diagrams book after work tonight to see if I can give a little more info.

Thanks for your reply. I couldn't see anything that looked like an amp. Do I have to remove the glove box? Also, if I can power on the amp, could I isolate the speakers by scratching the wires on a battery?
