My credo
I poop in the furnace.

So Ford spent all this time and money to develop overly complex wheel locks that cannot be "cloned" because the pattern is based on sound waves from the owners voice.

First of all, seriously? Using voice commands to print distinct patterns? It's a dang lug nut!

Second, I've had to remove alot of wheel locks over the years, "cloning" the key was never the solution and I'm 100% sure that's not how thieves steal wheels...

Why? Who the heak thought this was a valuable use of anyone's time?!

They use sound waves... can you just tell your lugnuts to remove themselves?

That's actually what I thought when I first saw the headline... voice activated lug nuts...

They would have to lockout that function at higher speeds. I wonder if you can change that with Forscan.

Imagine the mechanic... Instead of digging through peoples glove boxes for the wheel key they have to call the customer and say, "mam, I need you to talk to your lug nuts so I can fix your car".

Mechanic...
"Mam, can you come back and get your nuts off "?
Owner....
"No need , my husband is right here"...

Funny. And your voice wouldn't be the same over the phone, you'd have to go there in person. HAHAHA!!!

I don't think you guys read the article correctly..... You make your own lug nut lock with your voice, not you tell your lug nuts to come off.... Pretty much think of an EQ and the waves it makes when playing music or sound. The computer takes those sound waves and turns it into a pattern, pretty easy, which is made by the sound of your voice AND the computer. However it is still a round lug nut lock so a good set of bolt-outs would still get them off. Another issue is someone could take clay or a thicker putty and just press it into the lug nut to get a copy of the pattern and then take that to a 3d printer and make your own tool. It's unique but it's not theft proof.

Can you visualize some woman driving her husbands truck with voice activated lug nuts, having a flat.
There she is screaming at the truck, "Dammit, I want the nuts off" !!!

Pretty sure most of us understand that. We’ve just followed the proverbial rabbit trail of our humor and imaginations. It’s what we do. Enjoy it. The actual story is too boring.

I donno…. Reading some of these posts would make one wonder.... 7 sided lug nuts would probably be a better theft deterrent than custom round lug nut lockers... OR even better, just park really close to a building so the thief can't get access to the wheel. Problem solves, same goes for parking lots, just park extremely close to everyone.

Or just have crappy wheels so no one wants to steal them. Junkyard steel rims are a fantastic theft deterrent.

From this it really seems you may have given this quite a bit of thought on how to steal rims....???? :icon_rofl:

Yea... all we need to do is climb out the trunk... wait we have trucks... the rear slider. Crap my shoulders wont fit through that tiny space... screw it, I'm just gona live in it !

^^^THIS^^^^ This is why I call BS on everyone who says Ford cant afford to build an off road Ranger AND a street Ranger. Most of the time, the reason is "Costs" and "return" How many Millions did the stupid Lug nuts cost to R&D, and then produce, and then get an actual return on that R&D? They spent millions on advertising for a truck emoji, then spent millions getting us a "new" Ranger, and Millions more creating ANOTHER off road type vehicle. So now there is the 7.3 Tremor F350, the F-150 Raptor, FX4 trim available on everything, a dozen off road variants of the Ranger from Aftermarket Companies, and Now a Bronco to go off raod in!!! WTF FORD? And ya'll can't tell me there is NO market for trucks to go fast, even the Ranger has a "SPORT" mode built into the Trans. People spend a lot of money to make their trucks go fast on pavement, Just as many as the ones who spend money on lift kits and big ass ugly tires. Ford has ignored half of it target audience by catering to the other half. I just don't get it. OH wait, it's because we need theft proof lug nuts, now it all makes sense (Sarcasm).:flipoff:
