Project SVT

Well, I finally got some work done after 3 days of trying. I started on the passenger side, as it was easier to get to the inside framerail. The driverside I will have to drop the fuel tank, as I need to remove the brackets about 3 times...I'm not quite finished the passenger side, but I got about 80% of it finished. Still need to put another leg on, sand it and prime/paint it...I wanted to use 2x4 tubing thats under the rockers, but I only have enough to do one side...Here are some pics of what I have so far...

If the welds look funny its cause I'm using flux core wire, it's more forgiving on dirty and surface rust material. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the passenger side done, sanded and painted, and finally installed tuesday. Most likely, both weather and calls permitting, I'll start on the driver side tomorrow and should have it done same day so I can get both installed on tuesday...

Plus, it's a better wire to use if you're using a 110V welder. Burns in much better, especially on thicker steel, due to the reversed polarity.

Now, everything is looking nice and cool, but you know what I'm gonna ask about, right? :icon_bounceblue:

Yeah, yeah :D...I'm going this week to get some hoses, so it will be in by friday (hopefully)...Actually the welder is a 220v 175 amp MIG...its a Northern Industrial...It works pretty good, but I can't wait to get my 255 snapon back...It's at another buddies house that I just have not taken the time to get yet...

Here is the new frame for the buildup, since the one under the EB is rusted through on the back section...
FS025.jpg

302, 3 spd manual (3 on the tree), dana 20 J-shift Tcase, 44 up front, 9" out back. I haven't checked the gearing, but I believe to be 354's. It has the rare Dual fuel tank option, and the midship tank is plastic, so I know it's good...I have a 351W for it that'll be going in, and I'm looking at either an AOD or a 4R70W...I might go with the 4R70W as that's what's in SVT, and I'll just grab an ECU and harness from a 96 F150 to control it...The EB needs a new harness anyways. So I'll most likely remake the harness and combine it with a new vehicle harness from EZ wiring...Don't know when this project will start, so I don't know a timeline...

Thats a hell of a find man! Good luck!

Yeah, it's strange how I got it, but thats another story....It does need quite a bit of body work, as the rear quarters, door jams, lower doors, front lower fenders and frame all have rust issues, some worse than others...One day I will get on it...

What is that green truck beside the frame? Ranger with an Exploder front end:icon_confused:

I'm confused... Are these parts for th EB or your ranger?

Mike, if you've been with TRS since version 1 (2002) you would remember this truck as RangerSVTTurbo, my 2WD lowrider that I had, which has now been out in the pasture (almost literally) for about 5 years now it's got a 7/9 drop sitting on 20's (well, the front is, the rear 8.8 explorer axle was borrowed for SVT, which is getting a new axle in 2 weeks), explorer leather seats, custom interior, custom tint, and a 2000 explorer front end conversion that was destroyed due to my ex which I now have to redo from scratch, I have all the pieces, just need to do it. It is actually so low that I can't physically daily drive it without grading the driveway and half the roads around my area. I have almost a complete set of airbags to put on it, but the project kind of got tossed aside and I got into 4 wheeling...

The tuner/air shocks/hydroboost setup is all going in the red ranger, SVT. I'm using the superduty MS cause that's the size calipers I'm going to be running on my axles, are the dual piston calipers from a superduty. I'm ging to have to take a pic of the reserviors sitting side by side to show how massive this MS really is. It will move way more fluid than the ranger MS...
