Project SVT

Somehow I knew that would happen....... :icon_rofl:

Well, I've went through a tank of fuel, and I got about 200 miles give or take a few on 3/4 tank, plus I wasn't exactly light on the skinny pedal to get the best of fuel mileage...Runs great, I think I might have a cooling concern, but I ran a 110 mile trip and it didn't get over 190. I might have an issue later on or when I hit the trails, not quite sure, but I have a couple ideas...

You got those twin fans, right?

When I was in the street cruise, reving the motor and slowly idling down the road, mine never stayed above 198. That's also on a 190 thermostat.

If push comes to shove, use a 180 and make sure both those fans are working properly.

I have a 180 and both fans are on....I don't have a fan shroud though and about a third of my radiator is exposed to no fans...I'm thinking of dropping down to an 8 inch fan and run 4 of them :icon_idea:

Hmm......... I have one 10" with no shroud and it does just fine.

Maybe just watch the temp gauge and if it starts to hit 220, then shut it off until it cools down.

THEN you know you have a heating problem.

all you need is one fan and a shroud, that should take care of it

He ain't got room for one fan, unless someone happens to have one about an inch thick! The factory fan thread is that close to the radiator.
Second;
We ALL know He likes to make things COMPLICATED some times!! And WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Overkill!!! :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl:

Driving on the road is fine, it stays around 185-190, but when I get offroad and I'm not driving at highway speeds, it starts to get a little warmer...It got up to around 215 when I was running it hard, and one time it got up to around 225...I have two 10" fans on it, both flowing about 2800 cfm combined (rated anyways) with the factory radiator. I may take Jay's single core radiator (that'll give me more room up front) and put it up front and take my two core and mount it where the spare tire goes and run a couple 1.5" lines up front...
As far as my fuel mileage goes, I also still have to connect up rear O2 sensor, I need to make an extension as the sensor doesn't reach the harness, so once I do that I know I will get a little better mpg's...

be sure that the fans are turning the right way, and pulling air, not pushing it, unless they are pusher fans.

We already found the fans going the wrong way, reversed the wires and good now. Still probably goiing to run hot in low on the trail. We got a dual radiator plan though!

Yep, when I was returning from the exhaust shop (and the first real test drive) it was running about 210-215 on the highway taking it easy..., got back to the shop and noticed it has a lot of heat in front of the grille, but still had air on the engine side of the cooling fans, so I reversed the wires and then I had an A$$ load of hot air moving towards the engine and no more hot air in front of the grille...I have enough space to run two 8" fans side by side at the top, allowing me to run two rows of 8" fans...I think I might try this and keep my two 10" fans for a backup system, or my 2WD V8 swap I will be doing on my other ranger...

you wouldnt happen to know anyone around you that has a transmission and transfer case for a 97 ford explorer 5.0

What Tcase are you looking for?? If you are looking for the factory AWD case, I have one, and the YPP in Owensboro has a complete motor, trans, and Tcase there, I just got back from there about 30 minutes ago and had my eyes on it looking for a tensioner...

Well, my g/f took some pics of what I have been dong when I've been at her house...Here are some of the pics from me doing the 5.0L HO V8 swap on a 2002 Jeep TJ wrangler...
