Made contact with the guy who has the S10.

A little back story..

He "gave" it to his son when he was in highschool two years ago, he put it into a ditch nose first his senior year and they put a new grill, hood, fenders, and bumper on it. Apparently the bumper pushed into the fenders, and the hood and grill also made contact with the ditch.

His son, shortly after highschool joined the military and the truck sat since then. He came home a few weeks ago and decided he wanted to go buy a new car instead of drive the truck. His father has decided to sell it since he has no use for it now.

According to the guy who owns it, it has sat for the past year but starts and drives fine.

I'm looking at it on Sunday at noon. I'll let you guys know if I side with the devil or if I keep walking.

what year s10 and what engine?

oh no.... does it matter? unless its been v8 swapped and bagged...

or v8 swapped, and linked on tons.

it kinda does matter. the 4.3 while being an awesome engine with gobs of torque is a real pig on gas.

and depending on if he goes stick or auto. stay away from 93-95 if at all possible. those were the change over years from the 70r4 to the newer 4l60e and they had serious electrical problems with those tranys. 96 they changed it so 96 and up is all good.

dont ask me how i know :annoyed:

Bought it.

It's a 2000 Stepside reg cab 4x4 with the 4.3 and an auto.

Hey, it gets me from point a to point b.

I can't stand the older body style of S10's, thats part of the reason why I bought this one.

Anyway, he cracked the windshield literally 5 minutes before I got there with a rock mowing the lawn. He dropped the price from 2500 to 2000 because of it and I talked him down to 1800 afterwards.

pics! sounds like a nice truck

I had a 91 4wd S10 blazer and loved it. While the gas sucks, the 4.3 is one kickass motor. It ranks up there for me..Sounds like a good buy if you ask me..

Yeah, I'll get pics when I haul it home tomorrow! I'm getting it registered under my Rangers plates. I'm gonna have it in the brake/tire shop monday, glass on tuesday, and driving it on tuesday night if all works out right. I'm putting the tires off the Ranger right on it since I won't be driving the Ranger for a while.

I think Project Blasphemy would be a fitting title.

just beware your going to get 15 mpg

but other than that congrats

I'm tracking my mpg so we'll see what I get. I'm expecting around the 16/17 range.

I kind of have to track it.. the gas gauge doesn't work. :annoyed:

cati's 98 s10, 4.3 auto 2wd.... pos... idc that's a "good" motor.. its not..

i'll pray for you! and i hope you have better luck w/ yours than we are with this one...

this dude down street from me owns a silver s10 lowered, black pimp rims as i call them. he was doing something in his engine bay for like 10 mins without tools like inspecting or something then just hops in starts it and instantly floors it down the street... i was so hoping he would blow something. I hate people speeding down sidestreets.

Got my spare dash trim painted up and started work on my switch panel.

Basically, since in my truck the left vent on there is a "dummy" vent to cover the 4x4 switch panel (I'm 2wd) I decided to use that.

Here's the two different plugs that go in this trim piece. The dummy vent and the 4x4 switches.

I needed something to make my switch panel out of, and the rear jump seat panels had the right texture and thickness to match the OEM dash in my truck. Here's my patten marked onto it. This is the smooth underside, I didn't want to mark up the textured side.

After cutting it out I secured it in place and marked out my holes. I wanted to run 8 switches but there wasn't enough room there, so I did 7 and jogged the bottom row over. It came out looking okay.

The holes made to the right size for switches.

Right now I'm working on painting it up the rest of the way, along with the rest of the dash and interior pieces. I'm going to try to get as much as I can out of my parts truck for the painted pieces, as I would like to retain the OEM gray dash in case I ever sell the Ranger.

I need to replace my drivers door panel and put some foam stuff on the rear glove boxes. The drivers door panel is all cracked and whatnot. After that my ranger will be moderately quiet. I do need to figure out why it's so STIFF. I'm assuming it's my skyjacker coils, I want to go to a taller coil that's softer and get rid of these stock height stiff coils. I don't like the idea of leveling by making less spring compression, or whatever it's called.

If you want to discuss all this more feel free to bring it up in my Ranger thread. :icon_thumby:

ok, i'm here...now what? lol j/k...

yeah the skyjacker coils are stiff.. try Rough Country. their name is fitting for their lift on ttb's... lol. i'm gonna get some deaver's for mine when i go sas'ed (a little stiffer than some at 300ppi but i have that heavy bumper, and a lifted b2=body roll, but my RC's are 540ppi.. crazy stiff).. a lot of people are still looking at doing ttb's tho. check out legoms013 mazda ranger thang. he has a video of his ttb in action on the roads. looks good n smooth to!

post 491 shows the youtube video.

I've been wanting to SAS but I'm waiting until I live at my own place, instead of mooching off my parents. I don't think they like it when I tear apart vehicles on the lawn. :D
