Project Adventure Ranger: 95 Ranger Build

didn't you say one tome that you were never going to screw with TTB again...?:thefinger:

Wow i'm starting to think I'm gonna paint my duff stuff now the red looks awesome!! Hurry up and finish this thing lol. And when are you gonna get tires for it?

On a wheeling truck, yes. Since this is a driver that will see mild off road use with only a 33" tire, I see no sense in a SAS.

that makes sense, my ranger should be wheeling by summer. We should hit mcgrew

Got a lot done this weekend, the truck is sitting back down on the ground. The entire front end is rebuilt from hub to hub. Every bearing, seal, bushing, ball joint, etc. was replaced. The only items I didn't replace were the front brake pads and rotors because they were in good shape. I have all new steering parts on order as well, they should be here sometime this week. After that the truck will head over to the alignment shop.

While I had the front pumpkin out for the gear swap, you can see that I added a drain plug that is still protected by the front axle beam.

I'm not sure that I needed to, but I also clearanced the center yoke while changing the u-joint out.

I don't have a pic of the truck on the ground yet, so one of the completed suspension will have to do for now.

Looks like the powdercoat is pretty darn close to the same red. Liking this build alot, gonna have to scribe!

Thanks guys. Still don't have any pics of it on the ground yet, but I can tell you that those yota springs lifted the back of the truck too much even with the factory block removed like I did. I'll be pulling them back out and throwing the JD springs in there along with the factory lift block. My tires and wheels showed up last friday, 33-10.50 BFG A/T's and matte black 15X8 steel wheels. The matte black wheels look great, can't wait to get them mounted up on the truck. I still need to get the steering parts on and get the truck aligned first though.

Finished the suspension off this weekend. Swapped the rear yota springs out and installed the JD ones along with the factory block. Truck still sat high in the rear though not as bad, so I threw in some 1" coils spacer to help level out the front.

On the ground with the JD springs and 1" coil spacers

When I was installing the rear shocks today, I found the ones that came with the kit to be just a hair to short. Funny thing is that these "lift" shocks were actually shorter than the factory ones by about .75".

Since I don't like how low the factory shock hangs on a Ranger anyhow, I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone. I cut the factory mounts off and welded new ones on rotated so that they are now flush with the bottom of the tube.

I also installed all the new steering parts today, so tomorrow it's off for an alignment. Once I get it back I'll throw on the new meats.

Lookin good man. I'm thinking of putting my 2 inch coil spacers under my jd coil springs when I finally put it on. Do you think I'll run into any problems?

You may have a problem getting it aligned if you are going to use the drop brackets supplied with the JD kit. You will also have to run those stud extensions for your coil retainer which I'm not fond of. I think a 2" spacer would be over kill anyhow. My truck is damn near level as it sits right now. Once I add the spare tire to the back and put the tow hitch back on it probably will be level.

Ok I might cut mine down maybe .5-.75" as far as the stud extenders I didnt need them at all in the first place so I'm not worried about that. Your truck sure is comming along Its a huge inspiration to my build (If I ever have the time/money to finish it lol) Now lets get some 33's on that thing!!!

Can't wait to see it sitting on those 33's. Nice job on those lower shock mounts, looking good!
