Whats everyone's opinion on welding some flat bar (3/16" thick) across the bottoms of my sliders for dent protection (tubing is .120 wall) while the sliders are off?

Yeah I might as well while they are off, and besides it's not like I'm concerned with weight, I'm going 4.88's.

I would, mine are 3/16 and are taking a beating but they are taking it. I would also consider skinning the bars to the frame, I am going to do mine so I have less crap to hang up on.

id do it too.. i dont really think that a 3/16" plate up the slider will be all that much weight to worry about.

Finally, done with the chrome phase of my life (neglect the tailgate handle and 2" trailer ball lol):

you could afford the lego model easier!! lol

Yeah, $250 versus $150,000 sounds good to me!

One day when I am rich I will have a fleet of Unimogs, one for every weather/terrain condition....each fully geared for different types of trips.

Sure thing, I'll try and get one up soon.

Basically I made the frame mounts, welded the outrigger supports, then bolted them on.

After that I held up the main slider tube where I want it, and parallel to the body, and marked where to cut the supports off, and at what angle versus the frame.

Finally I tack welded the tube in place, unbolted everything, clamped everything down to control warpage and welded all the seams up. :icon_welder:
