Project 4x4 Commuter Mazda

That, or just do what I did: hang 250lbs of bumper/winch off the front and call it good lol :icon_rofl:

I think my coils are in the neighborhood of 415 ppi, and I run Bilstein's "lightly" valved 170/60 shocks. Plus the bumper.

Wow 540...that prolly rides like a tank I take it?

uh yeah... :icon_rofl:
i'll put it this way. my bumper.. all 1/4" steel, didn't change my ride height at all :D

i had the idea of running a 300 ppi coil and some adj shocks, stiffen them up a little on road to act like a "second" sway bar.. i don't want my b2 to be scary onroad since its a dd.
but i know nothing about adj shocks so... it'll require some research. think i'll try to make it work w/ the RC shocks i have now and see if i have excessive body roll or not.

Crap, your bumper probably weighs more than mine then. Mine is built out of 1/8" and then 1/4" where the winch bolts too and where the stand up grill/guard towers are.

I think Rancho makes some fairly inexpensive adjustable shocks, buddy of mine has them on his F350, and they do make a difference.

Maybe make some quick release pins for your sway bar so you can have both options.

I don't run a sway bar and it really isn't that bad, but on a BII maybe its different cuz the wheelbase is so short.

yeah i'm running a sway bar.. i gotta when i go to softer springs.. and i plan on doing some quick disco's.. i have a set of pins for my sway bar now- just never installed them. but i aint had time/money to wheel lately.

and thanks. i'll look into rancho's.. see what i can dig up.

Long time without an update (or at least for me).

This weekend I am going to try and modify my centerlink down 2.5" and do away with some of the bump steer. Main reason is I think its wearing my new gummy KM2s faster than I'd like. Or at least its wearing the square edges off pretty quick, which may just be characteristic of the softer rubber and of the TTB suspension.

We'll see. Its perfect time do do this as I will be rotating the almost brand new KM2's to the front and will get to see how they wear with the centerlink modded with respect to unmodded.

Then an oil change.

Bought some ruff stuff sleeves and larger chevy leaf spring polyurethane bushings to make a bigger and beefier idler arm.

These spacers I cut from my old skyjacker overload leaf springs.

Sits level now with some spacers.

how do you like those bilstiens?

Love em, they ride great at all speeds.

i'm thinking of going to those once i do the swaps.. b/c i've heard nothing but good about them..

Go for it, you wont regret buying them. IMHO they are one of the best off the shelf midrange shock you can buy before stepping up to the next level (such as a shock with resi's, rebuildability, and larger housings/bores).

some local jeep guys tell me to get FOA airshocks lol.. for front and rear! lol

Well jeep guys have problems what can I say lol. In a perfect word we would all have King triple bypass shocks at all four corners and matching King bumpstops. and 900hp :icon_rofl:

theres a reason that people say jeep stands for just empty every pocket

Foa's ain't all that bad really. Not if you consider it being a coil over... Kinda.. Lol.

FOA doesn't make air shocks though, they only make hydraulic types (reservoir and emulsion)?

maybe dave's are hydraulic.. idk, he said air tho. who knows.
