so, those bright individuals at ford made my stx with manual windows, which i have no complaint with, but its getting hot and i dont like to use my AC so i think i wanna get powerwindow motors and such and upgrade, so two questions, what will i need to pull from donor car and will it have to be a 3ed gen ranger or can it be a 3ed gen explorer?

Why don't you like running your A/C? As far as the window swap, I suspect you need the parts from a 93/94 Ranger, but good luck finding them. Not sure if you can use the 95-97 Ranger parts because they may be integrated with the GEM module.

ouccchhhh lol ,, i live in denver and go up to the mountains and sit in traffic all the time....

Again, what's the concern about running the a/c?

By the way - I'm not saying you can't use the '95-'97 doors, just that when I searched before I wasn't able to find documentation that it had been done and there was speculation that wasn't possible. I really would like them as well and have been meaning to chase down a wiring diagram.

If you can't find any in a junkyard or don't have the time or access to a junkyard, you could try these. http://electric-life.com/shopexd.asp?id=1070 I have a set and they bolted right in. You also have to get the swithches. It's kind of expensive but they work great.

I was looking at that site and noticed something cool. . . they offer power window motors for those rare 93-03 Bronco II's.:icon_rofl:

I just upgraded power windows to my grandfathers b3000 today its an 06... and he got the motor and actuator arm from the junkyard as well as the black trim panel with all the switches, all he wanted was a power drivers window,

First time ive done this, ended up taking the crank out by drilling out the 3 rivets, removed that hole assembly replaced with motor and its lift assembly, ran a power wire to the battery grounded on the door, and then ran the switche, as long as the door skins are the same this method should work, only thing with the battery being hooked was the window still works when the key is off... only did the one side,

running the compressor is a loss in hp and with my 3.0 i kinda use all i have available where the tire meets the road.

Down shift. You've got more than enough power available. If I can make a 2.3 run comfortably up any reasonable hill at extra-legal speeds with the A/C on, you shouldn't have a moments trouble with the 3.0 making some 40% more power.

i dont under stand why its really your concern weather i use the old, fat man function on my truck or not. powerwindows are just a convince to me as im not a beleiver of A/C. and i smoke like a train and like to get allot of air flow so not to give my aggressive smoking habits more second hand smoke, from my first hand smoke... hahah, its not a high priority and im not about to go spend 250 for new power regulators and 150 for useless wires and switches. it was just a nice idea that poped into my head and i was wondering if it was really practical... .

Sorry to offend - not my intent. The point was that if power windows aren't a reasonable option, there's no reason you can't use the A/C as an alternative.

no problem man, been a long day lol... ill just have to go do some junkyard diving this weekend to see what turns up.... i have also had problems with my ac, where i use it for a while and shut it off and the air that is pushed through the lines afterwards from the wind is stale smelling, a fairly unique smell if i may say so...

i just picked up new doors for my truck today that are power everything (mirrors locks windows) and my truck has manual doors. im not sure what year truck the doors are off of.

ill be looking at it tomorrow hopefully. if i learn anything ill let you know

edit: just noticed the dates of the previous posts.
