I have had a clunk/sloppy bang in my driveline for a while. the ujoints are fine.the motor and tranny mounts seem fine( my cross-member is bent to hell). I had chalked it up to a messy Pressure plate. The truck started slipping(clutch) about 2 weeks ago...........here is the potential dumb question..........is it possible that the clunk has been from the rearend and is there any part of the rearend that can cause a slip that appears to be similar to a clutch slipping.......I read a little about adjusting the Pinion nut.......ok start laughing........

With both back tires on the ground, how much "slop" is in your truck's d-shaft with the transmission in neutral?

I've seen broken side gear and/or spider gear teeth cause a problem like yours. It will also clunk and jerk when turning too. Drive in a circle and listen for a clunk when you're moving. If it does, it's time to pull the cover and inspect.

if i measure right where that gray plastic? washer on the diff is and turn the drive-shaft at that point it turns 1/4"...........WTF=great name. I am surprised that was not taken.......

I don't have any clunk when turning the clunk only comes when releasing the clutch and or giving it gas

Sounds to me like a throw-out bearing issue since it happens when you are releasing the pedal which engages the bearing harder onto the pressure plate. Hope this helps!!

BTW: thanks for the name compliment; said it enough times might as well go by it. haha:beer:

Mine does it too, but mine is play in the ring and pinion.
