Lifted or not.... more throttle that explorer doesnt need windows!

I agree!

Plus there are 1,493 Explorers in the local yards that I can get windows from.

I am NOT missing the next trip.

It was a really good trip. besides the rain everything was nice. Seth did great all weekend keeping up with me. He is one of the few to follow me on some of those trails. I have videos too but my photo bucket is being weird. I'm going to see about getting them uploaded too finally.

Labor Day pictures! Yay

Not much progress since last weekend, but I did score some perfect condition spindles. Traded my old 6 bolt drum brake spindles straight up for these guys.

Hopefully my seals show up today so I can get the transfer case back in the truck. Had a good deal setup for an Auburn Ected 8.8 selectable.....but I got slammed with some un expected bills this month. We will see if it hangs around until I can spare some play money again.lol

Seals finally showed up...damn USPS. They started in Cleveland, OH (3 hrs tops) and took 2 days to make it to Columbus, OH (Reasonable, I am basically in Columbus) then they sat there for 3 days before showing up in MI...then took another 3 to make it back to Columbus for delivery....meanwhile the tracking info said "Priority 2 day shipping...Status: On Time".lol

Not that I was really in a hurry, but every time I use USPS it is awful.

Anywho..I was able to actually find the old style seal with the flange that keeps the seal from going to too deep and keeps it straight.

Also bought a 1354 doubler from a member of another Ranger group (maybe on TRS too, IDK)..

It showed up Monday. It was a total pile off shit.

A. It was cut in the wrong location, so one key bolt hole was lost, and the sealing surface was reduced to a knife edge.

B. The holes in the plate were have ass measured and wallowed out to fit.

C. The "studs" were not straight and welded in with tack welds vs actually being drilled and tapped.

D. He used an electric case housing??? So no provisions for the shifter. He included some POS rod for shifting it manually through the breather hole. (No good way to seal, not detents to hold it in gear)

E. The shaft he supposedly bought (Duffy I thought I read, but the ad is now gone so I have no way double check what was said) is a damn welded together 2 piece...and it has a few micro cracks from improper cooling...

Some of this is my fault for no asking more questions or for more pictures. I assumed anyone brave enough to tackle a DIY doubler would have some better fabrication skills.

He is giving most of my money back, but I am out almost $100 for return shipping.

There is no wayyy this thing would have ever sealed up with the missing bolts, poor fitting block off plate, and horrible sealing surface on the cut portion.

Here is how mine is cut for reference. Notice I left both bolt holes intact.

With his half ass attempt, there is no bolts for a 10" stretch, where the mating surfaces are already not flat and have 1/32 to 1/16" gap when fully bolted together. That's relying a bit to much on sealer to hold up.

I was furious...I wish I could go back and read the ad again, but its gone. I can't see myself overlooking that many flaws. But maybe I just slipped up and got excited for a reasonably priced doubler and pulled the trigger early.

So looks like the B2 truggy project will remain single t case for a while longer

Concept of the electric case half isn't half bad really. Could make work really. put a "T" in 1/8 NPT breather hole, on the front side put in a compression fitting, but remove the feral and put a small oring in there. This will act as a seal on the shifter shaft. Just like a packing on an old adjustable carb jet or a fuel shut off valve....then cut some detent grooves in the shaft that line up with 90* fitting on the "T". The drop a ball bearing in the fitting followed by a spring and cap/plug to hold it down/in.....or just use a damn manual case in the first place. 1350 manuals are perfect and only cost 40-50 buck all day long. Use the POS electric case to donate the front cover and 6 gear planetary set.

Wow, I guess you get what you pay for. Lol

I remember seeing the post on Facebook on one of the groups.

Yup. That's the one. I should guessed it was a hack job based off of his other work....

That pic on there didn't look very good.

It just makes me mad that not one part is salvageable since he cut the case wrong...and cut the plate so that it can not be used on a case that is cut correctly. When I bought it originally I was thinking..meh even if the case is junk I still get the shaft for what it would cost me new from Duffy....but even that was messed up.
