Carnage....

Popped the driver front lockout on the first obstacle, swapped it out in the pouring rain. Went out for a quick rock wall climb...made it up no problem...then snapped the driver stub shaft and took out the inner shaft, OX joint, and spindle with it (also swiped half the ball joint nut off).

Drove back to camp...swapped the shafts out for my spare stockers with Spicer joint. Headed out back out to my favorite trail (never had an issue on..ever). Crawled the entrance (easier than ever before..thank you 38.5s)...then boom...popped the passenger shaft which took out the both shafts and the other OX joint..unlocked the hub to limp it out..and the shaft debris must have locked up in the knuckle and the tcase let loose as well has separated the lower ball joint and pulled the top one right out of the knuckle....

Soo. We drove the Bronco II back to camp (damn thing has yet to break a damn thing...D28 FTW) I grabbed tools, parts, jacks.. and came up with this..

Drove a mile or so of deep water and rough trail in 2wd with this setup back to camp.

At least it still looks cool sitting in the driveway..

Jesus....

I can't believe 2 aluminum windows could cause all of that havoc... :icon_rofl:

38.5s might've been a bit of an issue too? Will this accelerate you HP build?

And at least the driver's side hub came back out. You didn't think it would labor day weekend. :icon_thumby:

I cant believe you broke there. A spot we have done 20 times (and its fun every time) with ZERO issues. Were you trying the hard line that I couldn't make last time?

That gawd damn B2...

Wow!!! lol how far down was the skinny pedal?

I did take the hard line, but walked it at an idle.

Everything let loose under 2000 RPM as usual.

I had to remove it the same way...actually I drilled it out to weaken it then hammer and chisel.

But I removed it one more time to replace the shaft with no issue.

Looks like you're not having any good luck these days.

Believe it or not, he idles/walks over everything. 95:1 crawl and that's with 4.10s...

Well then I probably shouldn't go out with my 38.5 boggers if he's breaking everything at a idle!

Oh wow. I'm guessing one of 2 things happened you either fatigued everything labor day weekend and the 38.5s did it all in or you really miss our muddy and slick PA trails after that trip to Southington.

Time for a Dana 60.

I love this truck...

I wouldnt go to a 60 if you do then you need new rims bigger tires. Re gear. Built rear axle to match redo hyrdo assist mounts re do all the suspension mounts on the new axle figure out how to cover the tires if you wanna drive on the street again. Etc.

Build the hp you have the parts anyways. Rcvs will not break.which will avoid the ball joints levering off.

Hubs. Swap in drive flanges for the trail. The tcases (if theyre anything like my toyota ones) usually break like that because of fatigue, sloppy mounts engine and tcases, or just the fact they have so much gearing and its harder to push 4:10s if you swapped to a 4:88/5:13 they would be more matched to the tcases and will spread the load out.

^Most of my issues will be solved with the HP44...RCVs, 5.13s, 30 spline 300M lockout upgrade.

When the new motor goes in...so will the stiffer engine and trans mounts. I think another 2 hrs or so of wheeling in PA and I would have been in this boat a week sooner....lol
