PlumCrazy's Build

For awhile I was building a large pile of d60 shafts too. But thankfully that don't happen anymore.

I have a few too lol

I have been through three full sets minus the pass inner (its a chromo).

Yes I switched over 2 years ago. I'm actually still running the stock pass inner shaft now though. I've broken 2 complete sets of all the others but never broke the pass inner. I'm seeing how long it will last. I've been spinning 44s on it now for 7 years. That axle had 44s on it when I got it too. I do carry a spare for when it breaks but I want to see how long I can make it now lol.

Boogered together a rear cross member with a new tcase mount since my old one was lighter weight, bent, and the mount was too low since I pushed everything up an inch when I made the new trans support.

After mocking up the OBA on the B2 we found intake/belt interference, so we decided to make a steel intake tube to clear, we also are swapping to the 95+ air box so we can build a snorkel setup like mine.

Our neighbor is an old school muffler man who still has a few benders and expanders to tinker with, so we had him make an adaptor to get the 2.5" tube up to 4" to mate up to the box. He reduced some 4" down to 3.5ish and flared out the 2.5 to match, then we welded it up. Looks perfect.

So I had him do the same for my larger 4.5" inlet and a 3" tube that I will use when I build my new intake for the boosted motor.

Its not as seamless as the one we did for the B2, but it will work better than anything I would have tried. lol

I am impressed in how your truck tucks those TSLs

When is the boost coming?

Other than the hydro line interference that has only rubbed once, they fit like a glove.

When is the boost coming?

It will be a while. I am at a crossroads with my job and where I will call home. I will most likely take the job and move 2 hrs south back to my hometown.

My brother was in a very serious motorcycle accident Thursday night, and will need lots of help when he finally comes home. Chances are he will live with my parents and I will move back there as well to help get him back on his feet and get him to and from rehab, surgeries, etc.

So most of my big plans will be on hold for a while.

Hope your brother is doing better. From the helmet picture I saw on facebook it looked pretty bad.

He is doing awesome considering the circumstances. He has loooooong road to recovery, but he has a lot of support from his friends and family.

Its amazing how much support he has had coming from his friends especially people that he just knows from cars and meets.

Picked up this little fella last night..

It bought it from a buddy who thought it had solenoid issues, but from my quick diagnosis its shorting out in the motor somewhere.

Gear box was gone through and resealed in then it sat on a shelf for 5+ years.

I pulled the motor apart and found three brushes had no tension on the springs, but they looked to be in good shape as did the armature. It turns by hand fine, but acts like a dead short when try to power it.

Im getting a quote for having it rebuilt. I would rather spend $50-100 to have an old motor rebuilt by a Mom and Pop shop than spend $80 on new Chinese junk on Ebay.lol

I went though and continuity tested all the solenoids, they all open and close with a strong click, so they are good to go.

Played around last Thursday with my OBA idea...

I made a temporary coupler and mounted the motor and compressor up to a piece of wood just to test the concept. When I make everything legit, I will use a small LoveJoy coupler...

It fits the 1/2" motor shaft and the 3/4" York shaft.

I made a fitting at work to adapt 3/8 inverted flare to -6 JIC (aka AN).

I swapped out a union for a T and ran it to my motor, and just threw a barb on the other side and dumped the hose back into the resi.

I quickly realized that a steering box is open center... lol I thought the pump sat at pressure and box was closed center....

It worked, but only if I turned the wheels a little to induce a load and raise the pressure/ block the open path and direct it to the OBA motor. lol

So I made another fitting to adapt the oring port on the Hydroboost to JIC this way I can put the motor in series with the box and use an open center switching valve to either bypass the motor or direct oil through it.

FYI..here is what the original hydroboost fitting looks like...

Here is a quick schematic of the hydro portion of the setup.

I grabbed another -6 pressure hose and the fittings I needed on Friday, but I spent my weekend playing nurse for my brother and putting up railings at his house.

Until he is able to walk and off his heavy pain meds I will be spending my weekends and spare time with him, so I only get a few afternoons a week to play with the truck.

My toys are towards the top of my priority list, but family and friends are first.

I also decided to finally throw some drop springs on my hoopty and build extended top hats for the struts. It needed an alignment bad, so I figured I might aswell drop it first then align it.lol
It drug the front mud flaps for a day or so until they wore off.lol

I was supposed to pickup a complete mint front clip for the Civic this weekend, but the guy fell off the planet apparently...typical CL
