PlumCrazy's Build

that bumpstop is a great idea. good work.

Well. The 1350 leaks around the shift shaft. I just read Bray's thread about his leaking and thought My 1354 never leaked and the seal is original. Then I came out to find a few oil drips under mine this morning.

Its not too bad and I have the oil level just past the shift shaft, so worst case it will only leak down to that level.lol

Its just an o ring. I should have replaced it, but it looked fine. I really don't want to pull the whole thing down and apart for an o ring.lol. ill put some miles on it atleast so I can see if it needs to come out for anything else first. Lol

Damn STX 1350M.

Mine is leaking when it gets hot, not worth taking the whole thing apart..
My vent tube came off a few weeks ago, I noticed it when I was changing the oil. What a mess.

The shift shaft seal is the same regardless. I haven't checked, but I think the 1354 and1350 even use the same one.

Do you know off hand what PPI your coils are? I'm looking into Jeep coils and New buckets up front since my EB coils are rock solid and don't fit right in the Ranger bucket.

Um....either 180 or 195ppi. I so know they are the Rough Country 6.5" xj.

I am looking at some 8.5" XJ coils from Rusty's. They are 180 PPI, I think I may go with those since I have a a little more weight up front than you.

One thing about the softer coils, they need a good shock with stiff valving.

Got that.lol

I did a little poking around the front end to see if I gain a little more articulation. I assumed my coils were the issue since they are 230PPI, so I pulled them and used a floor jack to move the axle around and it appears to be binding up at the RA bushings.

So i am going to look into building some arms that use 7/8 rodends instead of the standard doughnut bushings. I am going to keep them stock length so i can reuse my current mounts/crossmember with a little tweaking. I am also planning on getting EB buckets and shock mounts finally as well as lower coil mounts since my current ones are bent and making the coils bow.

I don't want the front end to be too soft since I still drive it on road an awful lot. And I plan on getting a winch before long and i want the setup to handle the extra weight aswell.

Can I ask you where you got your 230 PPI coils at?

B.C. Broncos. 6.5" w/winch EB coils.

The rates are not listed, I had to email them to find out. I still think they are a tad stiffer than 230. The "with winch" option adds an extra wrap to compensate for the extra weight.

BTW. Good luck with TOTM, there have been a lot it good noms the last couple months including yours.
