....got 2 90 x cabs and a 92 xcab and looking for UNBROKEN int door handles....and wanted to know if metal versions were ever made....i know ford didnt think about this problem 26 years later but i am......cheers

I don't think they ever made a metal handle for those years. Even my 88 had plastic for the most part...

I swapped on a set of 92 doors and the driver door was broken...the outside handle mechanism for triggering the latch sheered off...and the previous owner had some bozo try to fix it and they ripped out the locking mechanism...

Well, anyway, I managed to buy a replacement for the handle (outside handle)...$30 or less where you are...but it fit right in...still haven't found a piece so I can lock the driver side door...but I prefer the interior trim better on the later Gen IIs so I'm trying to stick with it...

If you are planning on swapping in the earlier hardware...I tried this and got frustrated because they reversed the handle mechanism so the parts are not interchangeable without swapping the entire door latch/lock/ and push/pull rods...

But it was fun trying!
