Please help.... I am at a loss, the starting circuit on my 90 ranger 2.3 liter isn't working. I have changed the starter, ignition switch, solenoid, and eec relay. I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Do you get power at the relay when the key is turned? How about at the starter?

I changed the clutch safety switch last year. I haven't checked for power at the relay yet. But will. I can put a jumper wire at the solenoid to get it started. It runs just fine. I just can't get power to the ignition wire at the solenoid.

Clutch Safety Switch ?

That's where I'd look, too.

The clip that holds the NSS is kind of mickey mouse; the switch may just be out of adjustment.

I don't get power at the relay. Just checked it.

I guess what I should ask is, what fusible link is for supplying power to the eec relay and where exactly is it located?

You said it will run if you start it by jumping the starter relay. If so, chances are that it's not the EEC relay.

It sounds like your problem is in the starting circuit. There's basically only 3 components in the starting circuit- the ignition switch, the clutch safety switch and the starter solenoid.

Check power in, and then power out, of the clutch safety switch.

Fix the "no start" condition first, then see where you're at.

I got it running. It was the ignition solenoid. I bought one from Amazon and it didn't work. So I went and got yet another one. Last time I buy electrical parts from there.

Amazon and eBay are building quite the reputation for bad and counterfeit parts.

Ive had better luck with ebay then amazon.

I ordered a starter switch/light switch combo for my polaris quad from crapazon, i went to push up on the starter switch (how you engage the starter) and the whole thing came apart.

I don't much like buying from Feebay or Scamazon, but that's about all we're left with today for certain items.

It's all a buyer beware...

Honestly your odds of getting a good part are only like 10% better even buying from an auto parts store and like 20% better getting stuff from a dealer anymore too, overall quality of anything is down the crapper...
