Pics of my v8 ranger project

i m assuming yours has an 8.8 in it by now?

I used an 8.8" axle from a 2004 FX4 LVLII Ranger so I could get the Torsen and the 31 spline shafts. Explorer Limited aluminum driveshaft that I had shortened.

Spray paint the seats with fabric paint.

any direct bolt in blacks seats out there instead of the blue ones?any explorers came black that would work?seats up to 98 explorers will bolt up correct?

that fabric paint makes the material feel like crap i think.the seats r pretty nice besides being blue

did u have to narrow the rearend?or did u leave it the way it was?how much hp can a ranger 8.8 handle?

i hope i can use my stock drive shaft, and not need ing to shorten it

Mustang or escort seats may bolt in idk. There is a Fusion with black pleather seats in good shape at the Pick-N-Pull i would like to get, but dont know if they will bolt in with no fab or mods

I didn't shorten it, but it could use about 1.5" taken off of each side. That's only because of the offset on the rims I run though..

The 31 spline 8.8 should theoretically be able to handle as much as a 9" Ford axle. The axle shafts are very close to the same diameter, and so is the ring gear. That's where they get their names from..

I've read build threads where guys were building and running drag cars, and their 28 spline 8.8" axles were handling 400hp regularly. So the 31 spline should be even stronger.

The 8.8" axle is actually heavier (lbs) than the 9", and most people like the 9" for easier gear changes, and getting rid of the c-clips.
