pic of the chopped roof BII at the junk yard

How the rear hatch was done is very simple. They cut the fiberglass rear hatch right at the lower level of the side windows. Then there is a fiberglass piece that covers the top of what is left of the hatch . . which now becomes a tailgate. Then at the bottom there is a steel square tube about 1"ID that is bolted on to the lower edge, all the way across. Then in the quarter panels . . . a 4" rod is attached, seems to be bolted in. It had a nylon covering that then is inserted into the square tubing and it pivots on that. Very simple, the same latch on both sides is used. I'll take more pics of the fiberglass pieces . . couple small cracks in the fiberglass, but very, very useable as is.

Ooooooohhh
I am VERY interested in doing a Sherrod clone! Haven't been able to see any of the posted pics "shrug" but have seen pics of a Sherrod and me like, very much!

Good deal on recovering those pieces. You're sitting on some very desireable parts.

oh yeah, i'd love to have it! if i knew i could cleanly do it mine would have a soft top

detailed pics please! I would love to have those pieces on my chopped B2!
Really wonder how hard it would be to create some molds off those?

I know I'm extremely interested!:yahoo: I've always wanted a way to do a clean chop top on the Burro.

where do you live? Have you try to find someone who works with fiberglass and see if he could make a mold?

I could make a mold if I was so inclined. Not sure what I want to do with it.

MAKE A MOLD OF IT!! SELL EM' THEY WILL BUY IT!!

Whoah anyone else here that??:icon_confused: All kidding aside, seriously please either make molds of them and sell it. Or sell it to someone who will I beg of you please!!

Bottom line is I'm not sure what I want to do with it. I'll listen to any offers, but understand I'm not looking to sell. I may put it on my BII, maybe make a mold or maybe sell it for the right price. ?????????????????????

Get some quotes from some shops that make molds and then lets us know. I would be very interested in buying the pieces and then we would be able to have top made ourselves. This would provide a cleaner, more finished look to the BII.

I AM going to chop my BII but until I have garage I can park it in or know I will be able to fab up some type of top I'm not going to do it. It would just become a bed for the neighborhood cats!

Or maybe someone on here has relative/friend that is in that business and can give you a figure as to how much making molds and then pouring them would run a person????

Also for some reason I can no longer see the pictures. Any reason why? Was wanting to do some more drooling!

After some thought and really thinking about all my projects, I will NEVER have the time to chop my roof. Therefore, if you are interested in my fiberglass pieces, PM me.

where do you live? looks too big/expensive to ship.
