Perhaps a slightly different 351 swap

Forgot, how I got to the Explorer: While the 69 block was in the shop I was asking my boss if he knew anyone with a set of GT40/P heads for sale. Then he told me he knew of an Explorer he used to own with a 5.0 that maybe for sale. Went down to check it out and it followed me home. For $300 for the engine (vehicle in my possession until I'm done with it) it was hard to say no. I'd really like to use the EFI but not sure if I'm going to follow through with that or not at this point.

Ok, so if anyone was actually following this here's an up to date of where I am so far.

By now I figure most (if not all of you) know what a bare block looks like so no pictures of that...not to mention I don't think I grabbed any.

Cleaned up block with rotating assembly.

Heads cleaned up (no machine work, just literally cleaned up) and painted.

As it sits now:

That last picture was probably 3 months ago at best as the '88 model in my signature has taken up all that time.

The engine is only sitting in the engine bay, not bolted down yet. I didn't quite get the slots in the crossmember for the mounts quite right so the stud in the right engine mount is cocked to the back. So i need to fix that. The AOD I picked up some time ago is apparently no good to rebuild (pitted case or something of the sort) so I am on the look for another to take it's place. Also the upper intake it only resting on the lower to keep debris out of the engine until I can get back working on it. It's not nearly as pretty any more :bawling: but that's not really important at the moment.
