A couple of months ago Vanessa and I bought a house that sits along a state route.

In the last 2 months I've had 3 cars broke down in my lower (right) drive and at least once (that I know of) every other week I get someone using my circle driveway to turn around in.

I don't care about the broke down cars so much. If you're broke down, you're broke down. It irritates me that we get people that come in the lower driveway and out the upper driveway to turn around. I admit, I've pulled in to peoples driveways before just enough to turn around, but people drive the whole loop around like it was put there just for them.

I'd like to put something across the drive to keep people from doing that, but I don't want it to become an inconvenience to me.

People annoy me. :annoyed:

You could always find a way to install those big hydraulic posts that raise up from the ground to block the drive way, just have a button in the garage... Probably be too expensive but would be cool as hell.

Especially if I could trigger it as they drove over. Propel them back on to the road.

Jim this is my idea:

Step 1:get a ol beat up truck riddled with bullet holes

step 2: place in way of dumbassses

step 3: place sign stating "privet drive way- they did not listen you wanna try?"

step 4: profit

I think one of those cool remote gates on either end would be pretty cool, Jim. Although, the car launcher would be cooler

here's some ideas:
1) claymores
2) guards posted 24/7 (may get expensive)
3) motorized gated with a button in your cars and the house/garage
4) put a sign up that says "no trespassing, violators will be shot, survivors will be shot again"
5)barbed-wire
6) drawbridge (complete with moat and 1 to 3 alligators)

Jim,

I feel your pain, I live out in the country and I have a 300' concrete driveway and everyone else on my road has a gravel driveway. Whose driveway do you think they are going to use to turnaround in? Sure as hell not the gravel one. I'd like to start charging toll.

i'm at the end of a dead end road. people get lost and there is no other place to turn around except on my property. and all the NO TRESPASSING signs don't help. and i have to try and decide who is really lost, and who is looking for an 'easy target', if you know what i mean.
it sucks.

I know how ya feel. I live down a long lane in the woods and we are the last house and have a circle drive. The county put a road sign up at the road but no Dead End sign, they also don't plow it in the winter or any maintenance. I think some people drove back here just to see what's here. Since moving in another house trailer we park different, one car on one side and my truck on the other side of the "circle" so they get the embarassment of turning around in the lane instead of a "drive through" :)

rig up a gate to a garage door opener. then when youre pulling up you hit the button so no real inconvenience. and you could probably do it for fairly cheap.

just a thought

put a gate for the enterence of one of the driveways, like a pole-gate that you can open using a lock

When we had our place out in BFE we always had someone braking down in our driveway but we only had one driveway. Sometimes people would be polite and ask if its ok to leave it there for a few and push it aside, but we had a few the would just leave there in the middle leaving us to drive around it. One year in snowed 3 or 4 feet i got our neighbor to use his skid loader to plow our driveway which was atleast a 8th of a mile long leaving only enough room to drive a car in and out. Someone had broke down and left there car there I was sleepn when my G/F came home from her first shift job and couldn't get in I was so pissed off cause she was sitting in the road and had to walk up the driveway. I got in my truck and threatend to push the car across the road and leave it there but my girlfriend refused to let me and after debating it for a couple mins the owners showed up with a belt apologized slap it on real quick and got out of there. Imagin coming back to your standed car and seeing a lifted 1st gen with a bullbar within inches of your hood and the driver sitting there pissed off. If they'ed askd a head of time I would've been more than happy to pull'em up the driveway were there was room for four of more cars.
