WOW Jim Thats a nice spread of land, How long does it take you to cut the grass?? Good luck with getting them to stop driving on you driveway I have seen people the have the same set up as yours and they put up 2 cones and a chain across them and a sign saying Privite Drive.

Lots of comments, most tongue in cheek, only a few possible solutions. As yet, the safety issue has not been mentioned. You live on a major highway. It can't be in any way safe to pull into your drive and back out onto the highway in order to turn around.

So.... that said, what is the solution. A few questions to think about...

- Do you REALLY NEED both drives, meaning that "extra" drive (the one on the right side of the picture?
- Is that a road on the very right side of the picture? Could you tie into that road and eliminate both roads exiting onto the highway.
- For safety could you enlarge a "turn around" area adjacent the highway by expanding the left drive at the road? You could then place a sign saying something like "turn around here please," or the like. You might also talk to the highway department about them funding and actually building a turn around spot. Don't mention to them it's because people are using your drives, but emphasize the safety aspect. They own the right of way and might built it for you at no cost to you. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Most people are not jerks and it can be assumed they just want to turn around safely, taking the path of least resistance, which happens to be in your one lane and out the other. If you make it easy for them to turn around w/out using your two drives, that should work. You'll always have the occasional jerk or dilbert and it isn't worth losing any heart beats over those mindless folks.

People turn around in my skinny driveway all the time and in the winter run over my grass. I put up a no turn around sing on a metal pole right next to the driveway where you have to swing wide to miss it, so no one pulls in cause they think they're going to hit it. Worked like a charm! You need a keypad gate!

The road in front of my house is a hill. It goes up to the left looking at the pic.

I'm two houses down from the hillcrest. Coming up the hill I pull in to the lower drive. Coming down the hill if traffic doesn't look like it's going to stop I can pull in to the lower drive for more stopping room.

I thought about putting a cable across the lower drive far enough up that you could pull in to get off the road and then just have a way to hook it without locking it.

out a spare axle in the middle of the driveway, so no one can pass through it =D

or just put a tire on 2 in the enterence of the driveway.

I would just install a gate that opens with a Clicker, cant be too expensive to rig up.

personally i would just put a gate with a latch on it. yes you have to get out of your car to open it to get up to your house, but very unlikely someone would do that just to make the loop. leave enough room to be off the road of course.

Especially if I could trigger it as they drove over. Propel them back on to the road.
