Explorer with the filled in back end has a little better aero than a pickup with an open box as well.

My carbed 5.0 with a 5speed gets upper teens loaded for adventure on the highway. I wish I could fuel inject it and see if I could get any more out of it.

I did take the back seats out, and have stock height and stock size tires, and an electric fan for the engine. Took the skid plates off too, but thinking about putting the fuel tank one back on. I backed into a tree branch the other day and put a little dent in my new fuel tank.

Decided to get a new muffler and tail pipe this morning, really quieted the rig down a lot. Cost a lot more then I thought it should, but I haven't been to a muffler shop in a long time and there is only really one left in my town. Regardless, looks like quality work and it's a lot quieter.

I will say I made discovery last night fooling around with the BII, I was looking at the exhaust and the transmission. I noticed that one of the band lock nuts had backed off. So I looked up the procedure to set the bands and set both of them and locked the band lock nuts down good.

I had noticed the transmission acting sort of weird in the last couple of weeks. I'm hoping a loose band was the cause and getting them set will help fix it.
